    FiiO M23, AK4191EQ+AK4499EX, THX AAA-78+, Dual Type-C Ports, Dual-Core Fast Charging, 1000mW+1000mW @32Ω

When you are holding the device in your hand and playing audio, it’s natural to have ports on the top. Especially on the couch or bed when you’re holding the device closer to you, then the cable is not in the way. Unless of course you prefer to hold your device upside down in your hand, which I...

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

I can’t say for Mac but on most PCs there is an option in the BIOS to power down completely when shutdown. This is normally not enabled because people usually expect the USB ports to be powered even while shutdown for charging etc. On my desktop PC with an MSI motherboard, this feature is...

    XDUoo XD05PRO

If you really want to prove a point, try this. 1. Record a video. 2. Set the XD05Pro to EXT + Turbo mode. 3. Power down and fully disconnect the USB-C charger and tester from the XD05Pro. 4. Connect the GaN charger with the tester to the XD05Pro and power it on. 5. Play some sound through the...

    XDUoo XD05PRO

You are absolutely right. An USB-C PD charger will always negotiate 5V supply at startup. The pictures above prove nothing because they only show power while operating, not while powering up. This is the problem. I think we’ve explained enough. If they’re happy with the way it works let them...

    XDUoo XD05PRO

Did you try to disconnect the usb cable, connect it again and then power it on in EXT ? In my experience the EXT mode Turbo only stays as long as you keep the USB-C connected. Once you disconnect and connect it back and then power it on, it doesn’t work anymore. With a 12v DC adapter this always...

Nothing to apologize. We are all here just trying to help others with information we have on the product so they make good, informed decisions :) The more we discuss the better !

    XDUoo XD05PRO

No it does not. It won’t start in Turbo unless you have a 12v DC adapter. If you don’t use Turbo or if you don’t mind switching it each time you power on then sure any USB-C charger will work fine. Sorry for the confusion in my previous statement. It was written in a hurry. What I meant to say...

    XDUoo XD05PRO

I thought we were past discussing this and you know what I mean. Nevertheless let me clarify once again. With an USB-C PD charger, you cannot switch on the device in Turbo mode. When you power down and then power up again it will NOT start in Turbo mode. Of course you can switch to Turbo after...

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

Still no sign of Zen DAC 3 in the EU. @iFi audio One of the things I love about IFI products is that they have always supported both UAC1 and UAC2 audio. Could you please confirm if the Zen DAC 3 supports UAC1 as well ? This is needed for it work with consoles like PS5.

    XDUoo XD05PRO

You cannot use Turbo mode if you have an USB-C PD charger, no matter how many watts it supports. You need to buy a 12v DC adapter and a DC to USB-C adapter. One example is the IFI iPower2 12v + DC to USB-C adapter.

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

May be for the US and China markets. For the EU, this is what I see. The distributor and retailers have no news either.

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

I don't think it's released yet. I tried to order it, but it's not possible. We will have to wait a bit till someone gets a hold of it and hope that someone also has or heard the Zen DAC v2.

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

Sure because you don't use MQA. People who use MQA will disagree with you. I myself don't use Qobuz or Tidal, tried both and did not like it. But I know there are many others who do. Also from what I know, IFI's MQA decoder is in the hardware (in the XMOS chip). If it was in the Software, they...

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)

Why does that matter ? Both Novus and Raven are designed by EE. Why they used Sonion BCDs instead of Weapon X, only they know.

Hiby R6 Pro II (2023 Edition) - Launch, Hype, Thoughts & More

Everyone just calm down. @Nick24JJ I would suggest that you use the max battery limit feature after powering on and not try to find corner cases where it does not work. Most DAPs don’t even have such a feature so be happy that the R6P2 has it. The Software on Hiby is state of the art compared...

Empire Ears - Discussion & Impressions (Formerly EarWerkz)

I think the solution to the Raven problem is Novus ! The way I see it there’s no reason to buy a Raven anymore except for the shell size. Novus is an upgrade in all aspects isn’t it ?

iFi Audio Zen Dac 3... Plug In, World Out!

When the entire world stops using MQA. They already said, as long as there are people using MQA they have to support it in order to not leave anyone out, which is a noble thing to do :)

Hiby R6 Pro II (2023 Edition) - Launch, Hype, Thoughts & More

The battery saving feature has always been a bit wonky. I think it worked fine in the original firmware and it was broken in an update. Then fixed later and so on. I haven’t used my R6P2 recently since I’m trying out some new stuff so I can’t remember whether this works in the latest update...

Hiby R6 Pro II (2023 Edition) - Launch, Hype, Thoughts & More

It is a bad idea to leave a Lithium battery to run to 0. Same as letting it charge to 100 always. Try to keep it between 40 and 80/90 depending on the usage if you want longer battery life.

This is one thing I hate on Hiby DAPs with the bottom facing jacks. I wish all manufacturers would use the standard headphone jacks on top and USB at the bottom.
