    Divorce-Fi

I'm sure this isn't the first Divorce-Fi thread, but it's my first. I have dozens of unanswered PMs and figure I owe some people an explanation, so this is it. Yes, I'm getting divorced, trying to fix up this house to sell and trying to find a new place to live, plus working too many hours...

240GB drive for iMod - Please say this will work!

As of last night my 240GB drive is up and running Rockbox now on a 5.5G 80GB video, DIYmodded. Couldn't have got Rockbox to work without help from a friend, known on the Rockbox and Rapid Repair forums as rmaniac. He compiled the build. For other people, here are his files with some extra...

Questions about drivers and human hearing

If you were here I could show you with my hands but its hard to explain! I'm not very articualte at the best of times. I'm not an EE or anything but this has been explained to me well. I know what you mean and I used to think the same way. A driver is like a piston only in the sense that the...

Questions about drivers and human hearing

The driver does produce two frequencies at once. Imagine a driver moving back and forth at 10,000 Hz. While doing that, imagine it also moving back and forth at 100Hz. It can do both at the same time. Your ear does the same thing in reverse, several frequincies at exactly the same time, one...

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

Wow, fast growing thread! I don't have much time and can't keep up with the thread but will answer what I can quickly. First, a bit a bit about the way I try to judge things like this, whether food, cars, or tools, such as headphones. I start with a perfect score, trying to guess what...

    My cable test enterprise

Could you measure impedance/resistance/capacitance etc? It would be great if it was possible to do waterfall plots and things with headphones. Would not be easy though! Looking forward to the listening tests!

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

Thanks Guys, They do have excellent bass, but I found the bottom octave was reproduced at a lower volume than would be correct or flat. The MD5000DE reproduce those 20-40 Hz with more authority. However I am 100% certain that they were not driven to their full potential by the DAC1 or my...

    My cable test enterprise

Is frequency response the only factor you're measuring, and do you think that will tell you enough about how they sound? Well done for doing the experiment by they way, good man, you deserve respect for that.

The Sennheiser HD 800: The First Listen, The First Review

Been traveling, was at CES and heard the HD800. Thought I'd post here for everyone that's asking me in emails so other people can read it too. Re the HD800, I don't own an HD600/650 but have heard them carefully at a meet and listened well at the CES before HD800, and the differences are not...

Australian BantamDAC Group Buy - Sign up!

My opinion, you'd be fine with 50mv at low volume, just don't crank it too high! I've tested amps giving a full volt DC or more and never any damage to Livewires or beyers. If you're turning it up too loud you'll soon hear it.
