CanJam London 2024 Impressions Thread (July 20-21, 2024)
I listened to it briefly. It definitely had some shout and sibilance to it, at least to my ears (I didnt hear any other opinions on it from the show floor). I know it's a prototype though, so if they sort the tuning it will be another nice option. The EE Ruby has a similar sound but left a...- ian91

I think this will be due to either driver size, orientation or contact with the shell, or a mixture of all three. There is so much variation in concha size and shape. When I see transparent CIEMs I am often amazed how companies fit drivers into those more challenging shapes. I agree though, a...- ian91

4EST is much better than 2 but I was just thinking about space in the shell and that we also don't really know how big this full range BC is. Either way, another interesting future release to track. I am more than satisfied with the Voltage so I will be a happy spectator for this one...probably.- ian91

Looking great. Shall we start guessing the driver config? I think either: 10BA + 4EST or going full quadbrid... 1DD + 1BC + 6BA + 4EST (or 2EST if they can't tetris in 4).- ian91

Given your time with the Traillii, you're probably in the best place to comment on how the Impact sets itself apart? There has always been inference that they are different but as yet, I don't think anyone has captured how in any great detail unless I missed it. Also, if you have already made...- ian91

I should have picked this up when you mentioned it to me. They aren't screw on, theres a little guide that ensures it fits a particular orientation. Hopefully that's still there if you've been screwing lol...- ian91

The Utsusemi-Works Thread (Sound Dragon, Sound Tiger)
Thanks for this! I see now, so we're paying to ensure they're cables appropriately wired. Not sure I have use case for SE output at the moment. Concerto in low gain mode is reasonably quiet on the noise front except with the more sensitive BA sets <20ohm...- ian91

This is interesting... That cable just looks like a BAL --> SE adapter, yet the paperwork included with the Potenza says not to connect a converter to the BAL output as it will degrade the sound and put the circuitry at risk...- ian91

The Watercooler -- Impressions, philosophical discussion and general banter. Index on first page. All welcome.
Your zero chance increases substantially if you're willing to drive to Hifonix in the West Midlands. They are the approved dealer from Aroma in the UK and have a Fei Wan to demo. However, @Kiats suggestion of a trip HK or Singapore sounds more appealing...!- ian91

H40 is still a special listen to me. Very easy to listen to and not technically deficient. I also actually prefer it over the H50, it has much more character and musicality, ymmv.- ian91

I think for a lot of users it will be overkill but I'm sensitive to loss of dynamics, control and either end extension that tends to happen with higher impedance sets when underpowered. It's especially notable on smaller drivers like earbuds where they need that power to convey the low end even...- ian91

I ended up purchasing the amp from @rufus0910 and he was a pleasure to deal with. FQL Blue Moon (130ohm Be) > Clan Audio BM OCC > Sound Tiger Concerto > Lotoo P6K The Concerto is a beautiful amp that really compliments the P6K sound, maintaining it's neutral signature but improving stage...- ian91

Nice impressions as always! Tomorrow I will be saying goodbye to my VOLTAGE for a short UK tour. Although my free time has been in short supply as of late, the time I have spent with VOLTAGE has been superb. I have no desire to EQ as the 0-1 switch setting hits my preference in tonality and...- ian91

Beautiful photos highlighting the deep colours! This shell is excellent. Lightweight, contoured well (for my ears, atleast) and the nozzle is not too broad or long. Definitely taking inspiration from the Impact and by extension, the Traillii. Yet here we have a helpful vent to equalise...- ian91

Agree with all of these observations, including the last smidge of subbass being absent for total genre domination but with time this might become a non-issue. Even if it doesn't, it's still a no-brainer for a balanced and versatile IEM. There are very, very few shortcomings (bar the cable chin...- ian91
