I really wanted to come but our baby is due that week. Do you think you'll be at CJ London?

Please bring it to a future Europe/cooler meet! It sounds right up my street.

Lovely looking set and view (enjoy your break!). I immediately looked for preloved FW10k after hearing the magic in the 1200 but I was stopped in my tracks by not-so-flattering feedback from friends. Does it justify the price in your opinion?

    Earbuds Round-Up

Looks like the silver electroplated copper (the one you pair with Ibis).

Price dropped to £500 - no further price drops likely.

My journey has been a back and forth between the novelty of highly technical hybrid IEMs and back to the cohesive and more natural single DD. My brain wants the stimulant effect of the former and my heart chases the essential sound of the latter. I recently acquired the JVC HA-FX1200 (11mm wood...

I find this topic of 'qualitative' vs 'quantitative' aspects of sound really interesting. I would disagree that timbre is solely a function of frequency response. For me, it goes beyond driver tuning to include more subtle qualities of driver behaviour over time, such as attack, decay, transient...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I think that's an extreme statement. Our ears naturally capture sound from multiple directions including reflected sound from the concha. Sound doesn't have to be directly piped into our ears. Regardless, while I appreciate fit is unique to the user, there are many shells that I manage to get...

FranQL DIY Earbuds - Magical Mystery Tour

Another great track that shows the strengths of the Draco - instrumental timbre and texture. Percussion is still naturally weighted and not too thin where the kick drum might become one-dimensional. Guitars are incisive and well resolved and the whole midrange is forward enough that you're...

FranQL DIY Earbuds - Magical Mystery Tour

I haven't had much reason to experiment but I'm using VE thin (?) donuts from their Air pack. The Draco needs some support from foams to transmit the lowest end. I tried some of the body scrubber type full foams (super low density) and it expands the stage and increases sparkle and air but the...

    TGXEAR discussion thread.

RU7 + Desolation Sound is offering up some great sonics today. For a few months now I have been using the 'Focus' donuts that came with the Sunniva for a bit more warmth. The lighter note and upper midrange presence of DS make it perfect for falsetto / acoustic music... Based on my (admittedly)...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Sorry to hear what you've been through lately, it sounds awful. I'm glad to hear it seems to be going the right direction. We're lucky to have you here. Keep on truckin'!

FranQL DIY Earbuds - Magical Mystery Tour

FranQL Draco with Clan Audio 'Draco' Litz Copper MMCX cable I just wanted to make an appreciation post on my latest earbud from @FranQL - 'Draco'. I had a lot of anticipation for this set. The take home message from discussion with Fran was that it represented a 'reference' sound to his ears...

    The discovery thread!

I was aware of these sets but the 7BA is essentially a $1000 and the 1BA won't have the note density or resolution. 4BA might allow them to target the competitive sub 500 bracket. Again, for me, the sooner they release another set (bar the flagship 622B) using the Sonion bone conduction driver...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Another blessed creation from @FranQL featuring Clan Audio litz copper MMCX cable. Draco features the awesome 600ohm bery - my favourite driver, hands down. The timbre is unmatched.

    The discovery thread!

I'll go one further on that (2 fewer to be precise) - give Canpur 4 Sonion BA with the goal of an affordable all-rounder...target the sub $500 bracket with a similar tuning to the 54E...profit? Personally, what I'm really waiting on is a set tuned similarly to the 32E with Sonion BC in the...

Great to hear your thoughts on these. Especially my beloved 32E...I can definitely see where you're coming from, the 32E has a revealing/neutral lower midrange no added weight and this balances the overall tone to the upper midrange and treble (i.e. bright overall). Despite the control and lower...

Canpur Audio - Impressions and Discussion Thread

I don't imagine much of the bass, if any, is covered by the BC. Data sheet from Sonion shows that most of the energy is in the upper midrange for conveying voices. This is very much in line with my listening experience. Tactility was present in the midrange that added contrast in imaging ability...

Thanks! Is this an all rounder set with no genre preference then? How does it compare to the Mentawai?

Enjoy your evening! :) The Verdandi keeps catching my eye, all this talk of spacious staging! I just wonder if my lugs will tolerate the lengthy nozzle :'). My set of choice tonight: My custom T4 - a beautifully tuned, vocal-centric sound. Vocals up close and personal, instrumentals sounding...

Show Off Your IEMs/Buds And Accessories!

Cheers, Leonard. Yes, what a great IEM with a unique and flattering midrange tuning. Instruments and vocals balanced expertly in their weight and tone and the timbre isn't bad in the low end where I would normally prefer a DD.
