    MOONDROP Earbuds Returns!

They provide foams with them. Without yes it's brighter, but standard issues of not getting a very secure fit in my ear at least.

    Earbuds Round-Up

I do have a Purple Vido, unsure if there were differences between the many variations out there or not. At least for the set I have, I prefer the X6, it sounds more open and separated for me. Of course with the Vido tending to be available for next to nothing, the above benefits which likely...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I will be interested to see other impressions. I would say that the differing levels of fit seen between people in ear buds means that variances, especially in low and top end extension, seem to be far greater. The X6 being a tried and true shape does have its advantages there. However I think...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I'd add a caveat that the X6 is the best earbuds I still have around to compare against, been 6 months since I had the Serratus. I'd definitely take the X6 over the U-2 though, in general I'd summarise my first impressions of the U-2 as grainy, dark with some awkward higher frequency spikes...

    MOONDROP Earbuds Returns!

Just got mine! Build is good, not too heavy once you've got foams on and they get a decent fit in my ears. Cable isn't the best, but also not really problematic apart from holding its shape. It isn't microphonic at least. Sound is warm neutral, but fairly dark. Treble extension isn't there...

    Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)

Good to know, thanks for the followup. Really a pity as they don't really match up well at that price point. Second hand market you can nab SR-L700's for near that.. Of course they may be mind blowing and still be killer at that price, but I shall be holding off until reviews come through...

    Stax SR-X1 (new entry model)

Somehow these have wound up being $1100 AUD in Australia... Going to go and take a chance on an eBay import from Japan instead I think once they start becoming more readily available. Very excited to hear everyone's reviews on them!

    The Stax Thread III

Very interested in these, surprising to see a price point around the L300. Wonder if it's a replacement, or an attempt to make twin X series for the Omega style, and L series continues with Lambda? Is there a X5 or similar also planned? The headband itself looks very retro, kinda cool in a...

ZMF Caldera - New Planar Magnetic from ZMF!

Allergy and weather are such a huge influence I feel gets altogether glossed over by much of the community! Spring and Autumn are actual hell in my city for hayfever, and my hearing swings massively between loathing treble and high frequencies, and needing huge bass boosts, to going entirely the...

    The discovery thread!

7hz sending Resolve another unit just to make sure it wasn't a lemon sample... the graph's looked like DT990 levels of sibilance though, or a completely disjointed ear gain no matter who you are depending on which tuning nozzle was used.

Beyond the Curve - An Audiophile YouTube Series

Amazing video, always love getting a behind the scenes, it's super rare especially with companies the size of Sennheiser! Found the comment of shoutiness of the IE Harman curve very interesting, Crinacle and the hp.com folk have been suggesting that for some time. This suggests that Sennheisers...

    Fiio FW3.

Just got mine in, initial impressions are big bombastic sound, bass is nice and punchy for Metal. Build as always is great from Fiio! They're definitely chonky though, and I can't get a consistent seal with any of the included tips.

This is really what I dislike most about buds, how important positioning is, yet how it can be almost impossible to get that consistently.

    Earbuds Round-Up

Always happy to meet up for a listening sesh! The Serratus is definitely bright / sibilant at times. I tended to stick with thicker foams which Jim provided with mine, labelled as 'less treble'. That definitely helped with that, however generally brought down some of the detail and wow factor...

    The discovery thread!

Good to meet you, thanks for letting me try the Andros, and making me want a Topping G5 lol.. PR2 I definitely find great value, and a great intro to planars for people. Clean bass in spades, and decent separation.
