They provide foams with them. Without yes it's brighter, but standard issues of not getting a very secure fit in my ear at least.

I'd add a caveat that the X6 is the best earbuds I still have around to compare against, been 6 months since I had the Serratus. I'd definitely take the X6 over the U-2 though, in general I'd summarise my first impressions of the U-2 as grainy, dark with some awkward higher frequency spikes...

Just got mine! Build is good, not too heavy once you've got foams on and they get a decent fit in my ears. Cable isn't the best, but also not really problematic apart from holding its shape. It isn't microphonic at least. Sound is warm neutral, but fairly dark. Treble extension isn't there...

Good to know, thanks for the followup. Really a pity as they don't really match up well at that price point. Second hand market you can nab SR-L700's for near that.. Of course they may be mind blowing and still be killer at that price, but I shall be holding off until reviews come through...

Just got mine in, initial impressions are big bombastic sound, bass is nice and punchy for Metal. Build as always is great from Fiio! They're definitely chonky though, and I can't get a consistent seal with any of the included tips.

This is really what I dislike most about buds, how important positioning is, yet how it can be almost impossible to get that consistently.
