While it's tempting to say, "Get the Gungnir 2 if you want a smaller DAC," it'll come down to individual preferences. In the meantime, here's a first look at Stjarna (in this case, as a prototype, not first article). Also should start some discussion.

Soon. We just got first articles on Friday. So maybe a couple of weeks out... This should start some discussion:

It will start as a multibit product. A bit of a different take on our current approach, but still multibit. Delta-Sigma still coming, but it needed a bit more baking time. This is mainly to address two issues: first, efficiency of the implementation—we are shrinking the size of the FPGA needed...

Sauerkraut? Make it 6. But not on hot dogs, thanks. Kimchi is also great. Nathan's is good. Still would go Nathans if getting something in a printed wrapper. Then there's Snake River Farms "filet dognons," (not actual name, they are just very fancy, plus like 1/4 lb each, so ouch). And then...

If you're happy, I'd stand firm. I frequently talk myself into getting something I'm sure will be a game-changer...and end up dissappointed...or never using it. Are there better amps, DACs, headphones? Sure. Are we working to improve what we make? Constantly. But if you're happy, maybe best to...

Why wouldn't it have a remote? Jotunheim 2 is a SIGNIFICANT upgrade from Magnius. As is Lyr+.

AES = SPDIF. Embedded clock that needs to be recovered. Limited options for recovery and clean-up. That said, AES does allow for transformer-based isolation between source and DAC, which Gungnir 2 has. With Unison USB: we control everything, including local clocks, as precisely as we want. Our...

Yes, if you want an inferior input to Unison USB. (Sorry, channeled Mike there for a second).

A brief update on a few small things, mainly finish related: 1. Fulla E is growing up--as in, it's now black and gray, not black and red. Yes. this is the end of black and red on our products. No other changes, it's just a Fulla E. 2. You've probably not noticed that Hel+, our other black and...

Although we can stamp the chassis in any shape, and although we could 3D print the star light pipes, ah, wellllllll.....no.

Quick Friday update: 1. San Antonio building is raised--as in, foundation work is done. The real work--moving in--starts now. 2. We are looking at Schiitr locations that are RIverwalk-adjacent in San Antonio. We'll see. Would be cool if parking is OK. 3. Despite proclamations of doom, Corpus is...

Oh boy ain't that right. Texas is neither South nor Southwest. It is its own particular thing. My brisket is pretty good, but our Texas friends seem to prefer my tri-tip, yes, even though it's a California thing. Hey we are spoiled with a local butcher (http://www.boarri.com) doing prime...

HOLY SCHIIT! ARE YOU KIDDING? THIS WORKS!!! As in, I now have Syn volume control on my Apple Remote. You have to "teach" it under volume control, not on the general learn remote section. That's pretty darn cool.

Compare and contrast Monday and today: Yeah, we have water at the dunes, but that's not weird. I bet they also told you it's been 120 degrees down here. Everyone in CA thinks we are dead. The reality is the temperature hasn't gone over 90 degrees (on the island, half mile from the beach)...

Storm was a total nothinburger in any case. Waaaay overhyped. I've seen worse "Tuesday squalls." The tortoises wondered why we even bothered to put them on the patio.

2024, Chapter 7 The Most Abused Audio Terms, Part 5: Gain The final straw came when Evan and Stephan and Tyler and Zach and I were listening to a Skoll in the lab at Corpus Christi. We started at 40dB of gain, typical of what you need for a moving-magnet cartridge. And, into a Freya+, run in...

Looks like there may be a tropical storm coming in, so I'll post the Wednesday gain chapter early, in case we are on the generator tomorrow. On the other hand, in CA, fires came up to the back of Mike's house a couple of days ago. Pick your scary...I've been through 2 major California...

I'd really like to do that with 5 Rekkrs. I will be using Kraken in the home theater in the new Boerne house when it is finished, like we did in California, and currently do in Corpus. I also may use 3-5 channels of another in the "Internet Fart Videos*" utility TV, which will be running...

Yeah, still waiting for internals, silver, beauty shot, etc...no worries, we will have them soon. You could use the (mono, filtered) sub out from Syn, or, if you want stereo subs with filter control on the subwoofer, use it from any preamp output.
