While I understand that audio terminology can be quite confusing at times,  "authentic" and generally better make it hard to understand what this device has done.  Also, in my 2 c, it'd be helpful to have a couple of measurements there if we're skipping the subjective entirely.

I do agree that LCD-2 is a forgiving headphone that tends to mask errors/ poorer recording quality - but a lot of cheaper headphones can do this too.  At 1K, there are many expectations for a headphone, and the Elear which you compared does squarely outshine the LCD-2 in many respects.    ...

Nice review.  How do you think the HD800 stacks up against more other comparable headphones - T1, Elear, LCD-X etc.? I noticed the TH-900 got thrown in there...but it's closed so not entirely comparable.

@twister6 yup it's a demo unit at a store in SG.  I wouldn't say "short" time -but if you're saying months -I unfortunately didn't have the time to spend that much time the Opus#2.  GIven the current review arrangement that they're proposing - I don't think I will be going ahead and purchasing...

@Whitigir, @x RELIC x, thanks!    @twister6 thanks and I should perhaps clarify my thoughts on the Opus#2.  It is better than the opus #1 without a doubt, but it still shares a similar sig.  One of the things is that it still seems to be trading a bit of bass for a larger perceived soundstage...
