New Inear Prophile-8
Thanks, that helps. They're still not quite secure, at least on my right ear, but I think it's a problem with an irregular ear shape.- Pickaxe

New Inear Prophile-8
How are you supposed to put these in your ear? I've been using them for 2 months and while they sound extremely good, I have not found any way to put them in my ear such that they stay in place. The instruction manual is not descriptive. I would love if someone could do a step by step...- Pickaxe

Nice cable, one question though - in your experience, does the clear cable turn green (due to oxidation)?- Pickaxe

Warning: this is a very cheaply built IEM. while (carefully!) twisting an eartip in order to remove it, the entire nozzle broke clean off. Browsing this thread, I've noticed one other user reporting this problem, so it's not an isolated problem. Beware.- Pickaxe

lol, stop shilling and stop redefining well-defined terms. these headphones are v-shaped and bassy. there's nothing balanced about them. the bass is elevated and almost muddy, making so everything sounds dark and vocals distant.- Pickaxe

I know! I had serious problems with that and it drove me crazy. The tips that finally fixed them for me were https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1gQSxLXXXXXcmXVXXq6xXFXXXk/Hot-sale-3-size-black-red-double-color-silicone-isolation-font-b-earphone-b-font-font.jpg which I happened to have a pair of from...- Pickaxe

No, they're genuine. Female vocals are not spot on, they are distant. Among other things.- Pickaxe

After using these for a while, I have to say they're not great. They are rather v-shaped (lol, "balanced". what a joke) and dark sounding. I like them only after equalizing them, I think they suck for vocals. My EQ preset for them literally has a 5-6 db difference between the low end and the...- Pickaxe

Can anyone compare these to the Urbanfun? I got my Urbanfun today and while they're definitely very good, the bass on these supposedly "balanced" IEMs is quite elevated.- Pickaxe

Chinese / Asian Brand IEM Info Thread
Hey everyone, hope this isn't a strange question, but what is a good Chinese IEM that sounds like the Sennheiser HD600? And by that I mean rather flat, great detail especially in the mids and bass that isn't elevated?- Pickaxe

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Thanks everyone who posted pictures of their earpads. I seem to have confirmed that my pads are considerably thinner. That is consistent with how it feels to wear them, since the pads barely compress when they sit on my head. The weight distribution is completely off thus the clamp is pretty...- Pickaxe

Philips Fidelio X2?!
This is so aggravating because, based on Philips's recent behavior, aka "screw you guys all new headphones are now coming with glued earpads", I'm wondering if they'll ever produce the older earpads ever again.- Pickaxe

Philips Fidelio X2?!
Can someone with an "older" (glueless, etc.) X2 please post some close up pictures of the pads? I'm thinking mine are made of some newer, cheaper material. I've used a lot of overear headphones, and these pads are just plain uncomfortable. Nothing like any of the old reviews say regarding...- Pickaxe

Philips Fidelio X2?!
So here's a question: did Amazon decide to have that 200$ after knowing they would review the batch for defects? There are posts here about them possibly doing a review, that were posted a week before the discount happened. Are Amazon hoping that some people will not bother returning them? I...- Pickaxe

There is absolutely zero audible difference between FLAC and 320kbps. As for background hiss, it's indeed an issue with your source.- Pickaxe

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread
I have a big problem with the comfort of HP150, maybe someone can help. Simply put, the bottom of the left cup simply doesn't press firmly against the head! The right side presses just fine, but on the left side only the top half of the cup presses against the head. This makes it hard to get...- Pickaxe

KEF M500/M200 Impressions Thread
Woah, new KEF headphones announced! Looks like I came back to this thread just in time. Sucks to see that the M400 is basically M500 in Beats colors. Nice rendering of how a black M500 would look like, pretty slick (the blue one is horrid). Also looks like the audio jack is at the bottom of...- Pickaxe

KEF M500/M200 Impressions Thread
So I picked those up from the closet today after letting them sit for a few months and oh boy. These sound way better than my daily drivers. So much detail, and the mids are just awesome. Really, at the end of the day, I can excuse all of the flaws of the KEF M500: the ridiculous MSRP (now...- Pickaxe

Soundmagic HP150/HP151 Impressions Thread
Been using the new memory foam ("thick") HM5 on my HP150s for a few days and here's a bullet-point review: Though they may be smaller than the HP150's cups and are oval rather than circular, they're pretty easy to put on, because the size of the lip is generous. First stretch the lip over...- Pickaxe

SoundMAGIC HP100/HP150 Review and Impressions Thread
Anyone found non-stock replacement earpads that fit the HP150? I think I've read that the Beyer Custom Ones fit and so do the 770s. The HP150 is quite comfortable but I wouldn't mind an even comfier set. Also, anyone found some mod to slightly decrease the sound leakage?- Pickaxe

Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (Headphones, IEMs, Amps, DACs)
Been listening to the Havi B3 Pro (ver. 1) for a few days now and I really like them. The sound of these reminds me of the ATH-CK10. Neutral and very detailed and still a tiny bit bassy. Incredible bang for the buck. comfort-wise they really hurt though, even with the smallest tips. Removing...- Pickaxe

KEF M500 versus Martin Logan Mikros 90
Here's one, and I believe I saw an even lower price last time I looked: http://www.head-fi.org/t/728164/kef-m500 168$ (first owner) + free shipping. Furthermore, if you follow these classifieds a bit you'll see that they're even at those price points they're not finding it easy to find a buyer- Pickaxe

AKG new headphone K545?
I'm sorry to come off as authoritative, but 320kbps (and even lower bitrates for better/newer encodings) are absolutely transparent. People may think they hear a difference, but I'll wager a guess that they won't be able to tell one from the other in double-blind AB tests.- Pickaxe
