Portable R2R options (dongles and DAPs)
Yes, good catch, will add it once released, thought it's not very portable indeed. Thanks!- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I believe all the exchange above should be deleted if possible - it doesn't add any value here. In my 1st message I provided technical details why the RU7 isn't R2R. To avoid potential confusion caused by Srboljub's video review. That might be the only message worth leaving.- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
The point was stated clearly: you cannot assemble a r2r ladder at home that operates transparently - at least 0.01% in actual operations needed for 16bit audio. As I said it is not the same as buying online a resistor. Test measurements of a device you did build at home are the only thing that...- Yanec

Hifiman HM901R R2R DAC
Thanks! Will get the 901r in the old hifiman collection. I still love the 603 (tda1543) more than the 801 (pcm1704) for some reason that I cannot explain clearly. Let's see where would the 901r with its Himalaya fit in that group.- Yanec

Let me help you understand the difference between a resistor labelling and the actual measured tolerance of implemented r2r pair. The labeling of resistors as "0.01%" (the methodology of labelling is another interesting story) refers to individual tolerance, meaning the resistor's resistance...- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Always good to watch such things. I have seen that video personally and I do agree with one of them more...😉 Designing own stuff is amazingly engaging, but in the case of r2r one can only count on ready-made integral chips as matching resistors to at least 0.01% isn't possible at home.- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
Off topic here. Important part of this is the perspective. The pro's and con's are different from the perspective of the producer and from the perspective of the consumer. As a consumer, I personally use both delta-sigma and r2r and love both, just for different applications.- Yanec

Hifiman HM901R R2R DAC
How do the 1000 and 901 compare in terms of sound if one uses the same card? Asking as I can get both for the same price at the moment but I don't know which ine should I pick.- Yanec

Hiby FC6 - another R-2R USB dongle
When you update to 1.7 it will be in the list of filters when you switch between them. update link, for update instructions look inside the update archive. It's quick and easy I am not a fan of the very coloured sound of the Darwin filter but the update fixes bugs too, so a good idea.- Yanec

Latest is 1.7, you can tell if you have it easily as it has additionally the Darwin filter. Updating is quick and not difficult.- Yanec

These are filters. NOS mode doesn't use filters. OS mode does. Start with listening in NOS mode and later compare to OS mode Fast Normal which is the most correct of the filters with least coloring. Leave HDR as it is: OFF in NOS, ON in OS. Don't start comparing immediately, give NOS mode some...- Yanec

Hiby FC6 - another R-2R USB dongle
My personal choice for any R2R is to avoid oversampling, otherwise I would use delta-sigma. So, for me personally it is NOS mode, meaning no filter or hdr. HDR makes sense in OS mode and again it is hardly a noticeable difference. All OS filters have their own sound signature, it's up to one's...- Yanec

You will be surprised how many r2r dacs claiming NOS mode still do some oversampling or other digital signal conversion in NOS mode. Hence my question.- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
The RU7 DAC does indeed use a resistor network, however, it isn't R2R. Purpose and Design of a 1-Bit resistor DAC The RU7 network operates based on pulse-density modulation which involves very high-frequency switching of a single bit to represent audio waveforms. This single-bit approach is...- Yanec

Portable R2R options (dongles and DAPs)
Thanks added the R01 module above, but the RU7 isn't R2R. Still the RU7 is an interesting concept too. They get often confused due to the marketing wording, especially translated from Mandarin. Let me provide some interesting comparison points for the curious. The RU7 DAC does indeed use a...- Yanec

Portable R2R options (dongles and DAPs)
Hey, Thought it would be nice to have a complete list of portable R2R gear - both dongle DACs and DAPs one place. I will keep expanding the list in this post as I discover new devices. R2R dongles: Cayin RU6 HiBy FC6 R2R DAPs: A&K SE300 L&P P6, P6 Pro, LP6 HiBy RS series (2,6,8) Cayin N6ii...- Yanec

My experience was completely different in terms of the sound characteristics you described. Unity variations, filters used, OS vs NOS, hearing, taste, iems, music library all impact this. Not challenging your personal opinion. But I disagree with your speculative and unsupported...- Yanec

I second to that question! It was a great start in pocket r2r from HiBy hopefully they build upon it. Many things were done right and pioneered. There is a potential for quite a lot of improvements too, so hopefully they make a new one.- Yanec

If you use mostly pcm audio (as most do) for portable version of the type of sound you prefer I would advice you to try the HiBy FC6 (good r2r) in NOS mode. For potential desktop upgrade the Ladder Schumann (excellent r2r) in NOS mode. If your music isn't pcm but dsd don't use r2r with their...- Yanec

Enjoy! Don't take my advice for granted but do try NOS mode at least for some time. In NOS mode it does very good native pcm conversion, unlike any OS mode and any delta-sigma device. It is not Ladder Schumann but it is cheaper and you can take it anywhere with you.- Yanec

So, you can do whatever you like. Updates are released for a reason, they improve either sound or stability of work, or both. No reasons in this exact case to avoid the latest update. So you don't want me to provide the ASR reviews that show how the Space outperforms the Mojo 2 in all aspects? Because this makes your claim that the Mojo 2 is much better baseless. 😉 No need to repeat your usual claim that dac/amp measurements mean nothing, just because you advised the worse...- Yanec
