New model Cowon - Plenue D2

You can't, Mojo isn't an amplifier, it's a DAC. It needs to have a digital signal going in, not an analogue signal which is what you'll get from the PD2 3.5mm out.

New model Cowon - Plenue D2

The small Plenue series (d,d2,d3,j) only have headphone out, so can’t be used with Mojo. The larger Plenues have an optical out so can be used as a source for Mojo, I’ve done that with a number of them in the past. Handy thing is you can use JetEffects on the outgoing optical signal.

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

Maybe I'll try it again, but the important point I was trying to make is that it isn't a stand-alone amp, the analogue inputs are doing analogue to digital conversion. Seems like you'd just lose resolution from the additional conversion steps, but I guess if you like the particular sound you get...

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

My understanding is that the analogue inputs are for using the CMA18p as an analogue-to-digital converter only, not as a standalone amp. The CMA18p can output digital audio from the USB port, e.g. to a computer or other DAC, in combination with an analogue source like vinyl. I've tried to use it...

Chord Electronics ☆ Poly ☆ (wireless & microSD module for Mojo) ☆★►USEFUL INFO on 1st PAGE!!◄★☆

I didn't realize Rigelian could fetch cover art from Poly now. When it trialed it a year or so ago I couldn't get album or artist artwork. I thought that was a limitation of the MPD version Poly was using?

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I’ve often thought about pulling the trigger on the FC6 but still haven’t done so, so unfortunately I can’t offer any comparisons there. I also had the DC-Elite for a while but personally didn’t like it so much for a mix of reasons: the power draw for one, the bulk of it, and while it sounded...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I just picked up a Questyle M12i after seeing Andy's review of it on YouTube. I had thought earlier this was just a cosmetic change in the appearance of the case with the addition of MFi certification, but Andy's review suggested it sounded different than the first generation M12. Unfortunately...

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

My understanding is that it was only the first batch sold in China that couldn't charge and play at the same time. I think with subsequent batches here - and the ones shipped overseas - they had updated the firmware to enable charge and play. Maybe @Questyle can confirm.

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

Yeah, the buttons actually just change the volume on the phone anyway, there's no independent volume control with the Chronos.

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

My vote would be Violectric Chronos. Small enough to fit in the wallet, you can control volume via phone slider, and low power draw. Plus it sounds good ;)

Questyle CMA18 Portable DAC with Headphone Amplifier

Just thought I'd say I got in touch with Questyle here in China, sent in my CMA18 model and they updated the firmware and sent it back for free. So now my one can charge and play as per the newer models :) Great support!

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

So you’ve never heard an A&K product before? I thought the HC2 and HC3 were good dongles too, I might try to find an HC3 second hand to refresh my memory and do a direct comparison.

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I haven't had any problems with the connector on mine. Also, I thought the cables were good quality! The connection between cable and dongle is tight too, seems like it will last the distance and not accidentally disconnect on the go. For the power, all I've been able to find is the specs on...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I have one, been listening for a few weeks although still haven’t clocked up that many hours yet. The only reviews I’ve seen have been in MajorHifi: https://majorhifi.com/astell-kern-hc4-review/ https://majorhifi.com/astell-kern-ak-hc4-vs-questyle-m15-comparison-review/ My thoughts largely...

    Chord Mojo(1) DAC-amp ☆★►FAQ in 3rd post!◄★☆

I’ve had that happen when using Mojo with upsampling in Audirvana. It plays alright for a while and then suddenly jumps into pink noise, and needs to be switched off in order to get it back to normal. It seems Mojo really doesn’t like upsampling. Is there any chance your computer was sending...

[FiiO KA17] Mini desktop-class amp, flagship dongle is officially released!

Are those numbers correct? Using my iPhone and B&W P7 headphones set at comfortable listening volume I got around 700mW draw for the iBasso Elite, which is the most power-hungry dongle I’ve tested. But your measurements put the KA17 as even higher? I thought the Elite’s draw was so high it...

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?

Another review, with more description of the sound: I think I'll get one of these, like the design, easy pad swaps, easier to drive than HD650/600, better bass extension, looks good.

Sennheiser HD 490 Pro Plus coming?

There's a review and interview up here, interview part is quite interesting with discussion of the pads and differences with HD600/650 in perceived sound.

Save the date: a Sennheiser CES debut

Lol, so true. The irony is that I prefer headphones, hardly use IEMs at all - then I go to Canjam-style shows here and it's all IEMs  At least there's Hifiman and brands like Fiio and Aune getting in on headphones too now. I'm intrigued about this idea of a HD660 closed back, is that just...

Save the date: a Sennheiser CES debut

Geez tough crowd. I feel like reminding people that there are whole threads dedicated to TWS and bluetooth headphones on head-fi. Sorry to disappoint everyone but that is where the market is at these days - and I say that as someone struggling to find a good upgrade to a closed-back that isn't...

Lake People G111 - Headphone Amp

By the way I also emailed Lake People about the differences between amps and power output specs and got a reply from Fried Reim. I’m guessing he won’t mind me quoting him here: “The power rating of the Lake People amps is nothing of real interest under “normal“ circumstances. All are strong...

Lake People G111 - Headphone Amp

I looked into this at some length a while ago when trying to decide between the various Lake People amps. The G111 is discrete, but the lower-numbered amps (G103, 105, 108) are all based around Burr Brown OPA511 op-amps. G105 is the single-ended version of the G108. G103 is a bit different as it...

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best

I picked up an HC4 yesterday. First impressions remind me of Polky74's description above, talking about the Colorfly being "tuned in the old fashioned way of the famous AKM (pre-factory fire) Velvet Sound to the nth degree". It has some emphasis on the low and medium-low frequencies with extra...
