Astell&Kern Launches New A&norma SR35 Player
Yes I was quite surprised that their overall tonality has ended up so similar despite different form factors and DAC chips. As I said earlier the detail and soundstage aren't on the same level as the SR35, but I find the basic sound signature is much the same.- someyoungguy

Astell&Kern Launches New A&norma SR35 Player
Hey there, I haven't tried using the line out feature yet, as I don't have an amp to feed it into. Also, the SR35 doesn't have optical out; I think the Kann and Ultima series are the only ones with optical out in the A&K line up. It does have USB out though. So far I haven't gotten it to work...- someyoungguy

Astell&Kern Launches Three New Products to Start 2023
I’m afraid you’re out of luck. I remember seeing a mention of this in the product page when it first came out. Just found it again now and it says: “Output is available for the same size as the input terminal. (Ports cannot be mixed for use e.g., 3.5→4.4 / 4.4→3.5)”- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I think the true answer would be I'd keep both ;) at a push, maybe, maaaybe the Chronos. I love them both for their slightly different sound (and A&K HC3 as well). One thing Questyle's current mode amplification does well is dynamic swings, which sound realistic without a sense of harshness or...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I'm certainly a fan of the Chronos, the lowest drain of the dongles I've tried so far. In my eyes worth the money. Another option might be the Questyle M15, in my testing it drew the same amount of current from my iPhone as the Ibasso DC04Pro. Great sound and also has a hardware gain switch, so...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Having had a bit of time to get used to the HC3, I thought I'd post some thoughts since there doesn't seem to be much around the internet about it. A few things that spring to mind immediately are the great dynamics and punch it offers - there's a nice solidity to the low end that gives music a...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Sorry been sick for a few days and just noticed this. Yeah I love it, definitely a keeper for me. I’m using it with an iPhone, and control volume using the slider on HF Player. The only downside is the power draw is the highest out of the dongles I’ve owned, so I usually use it while connected...- someyoungguy

Astell&Kern Launches Three New Products to Start 2023
I'm eagerly awaiting the PA10 being available for sale here in China. Just picked up an HC3 and it's fantastic, straight to 'one of my favorite dongle' territory. I think the PA10 will make a great versatile option: I'll be able to mix and match the sound with a few different dongles & devices...- someyoungguy

Cowon PLENUE M2 (Current Firmware and Manual Links in 1st post)
I was always intrigued by this mod that Nayparm posted back some years ago. Towards the end of last year I decided to go ahead with it too, but with COVID problems it took until now to get hold a DAC chip and get it sorted. I found someone who was advertising Plenue 2 modifications and explained...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
It’s been a while since I had the PEE51, but I really liked it too. I mainly only sold it as I have an iPhone and could only use the PEE51 with my computer. But I’d be fairly confident in saying the HC2 would be more detailed. It has great dynamics too, although I do find it a bit fatiguing...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Ah sorry for the confusion, I only have the DC04 Pro and haven’t heard the DC03 Pro. The above impressions were using the 3.5mm output of the DC04 Pro, since I was using my B&W P7s which are cabled for single ended use and the Chronos and HC3 are also only 3.5mm outputs. I’ll have to pull out my...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
I've only had the DC04Pro for a bit over a week or so, and feel like I still need some time with it. I've seen others talk of the DC03 Pro as being colored, maybe slightly V-shaped, and what I hear from the DC04 Pro seems to fit that same mold. But I did some brief comparisons today going back...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
There doesn't seem to be much love or coverage of the AK HC3 around. They finally became available here last week and I picked one up. Great sound, pity I sold the PEE51 some time ago so can't do a direct comparison (although I do have the HC2, but it's hard to compare directly given the...- someyoungguy

Violectric DHA V226
I just posted something in the V340 thread after seeing a comment there, but thought I should put it in here too as it's the more appropriate thread: I picked up a V226 in December. Out of the box I found it very fatiguing. I didn't have much time to listen to it due to COVID issues and school...- someyoungguy

Violectric DHA V380 DAC/Amp/Pre-amp
Funny you should mention as I recently picked up a V226 and had the same feeling. I left it burning in for some time. Reducing the gain helped to some extent, but afterwards I still felt that the bass was just too fatiguing, and usually I love me some good bass ;) I was using it with B&W P7s...- someyoungguy

USB-C to 3.5mm adapters (DAC) - Let's find the best
Just got one of these. Here's the specs, I haven't seen them anywhere else so far. Unfortunately I don't have a DC03Pro to compare it with, measurements-wise the single ended output seems almost identical:- someyoungguy

Final Audio Design Impressions and Discussion Thread
Just got a pair of ZE3000. I haven't used TWS much in the past - or IEMs for that matter. But over the last few months I've tried Sennheiser Momentum 3 wireless & Apple Airpods Pro 2. But man the clarity of vocals on the ZE3000 is something else. I think I actually prefer the simplicity of it...- someyoungguy

Cowon Plenue R - All Round Player
Thanks for that. After the previous post above I noticed that the proceeding was for 'Cowon Play' which seemed to be a game sub-business, but from this article it seems like that was now their primary focus?! I didn't know it had been taken over in 2016, and seems like that change in ownership...- someyoungguy

I don't actually have any way of measuring distortion - other than my ears . It sounds good, and I'll keep it around for a while to get a better feel for the sound. I liked the UA3 too, but noticed it drained my phone battery quite quickly (iPhone 12 mini), so ended up selling it...- someyoungguy
