The foobar2000 help thread. Got problems or questions? Ask here!
I just got 'foobar 200 controller pro', which was just made free recently. You need to install an httpd module on foobar but once you do you can control it from the phone nicely.- Hardwired

MrSpeakers ETHER Flow and ETHER C Flow -- Inspired by Electrostatic Headphones
I have the Ether C which I got upgraded to the Ether C Flow and I'm glad I did. The C's had everything I was looking for except a bottom end. I'm not a basshead and want just enough bass to balance the rest of the sound but the Cs were missing a low end, IMO. Upgrading to the C Flow kept...- Hardwired

AEON 2 Closed or ETHER C Closed or ETHER CX?
I have the Ether C Flow (originally an Ether C upgraded to the Flow) and the Aeon 2 Closed. I use the ECF at home while the wife watches TV and the A2C when we travel (once we ever do that again). The ECF sound better, as you would expect. The A2C are smaller and easier to pack for a trip but...- Hardwired

Schiit Gaming Dac/Amps 'Hel', 'Hel 2', and 'Fulla 3' Thread
I have a Hel that is about 3 months old. No scratchiness here. I would think that's a flaw that should be at least examined under warranty.- Hardwired

NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
I have both and listen to both on a daily basis. The Lyr 2 is at work and the MJ 2 is at home. The Lyr is paired with a Bifrost MB and the MJ is paired with a Gungnir MB. The more expensive set sounds better. How much? Well, not twice as good, certainly. The difference lies in subtle sound...- Hardwired

MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread
I also have both and I agree with atsq17. Especially for jazz and classical, the open Ethers are the cans you want. I use the Cs on a plane or sitting next to my wife while she watches TV, but the open Ethers are my go-to cans when I don't need closed.- Hardwired

MrSpeakers Ether Impressions Thread
Took me a bit to find it but Jason (yes, co-founder of Schiit) says this: "My “main stack” is Mjolnir 2/Gungnir Multibit, not Ragnarok/Yggdrasil. Mjolnir 2 is a warmer, wetter, “happier” amp than Ragnarok, and Gungnir Multibit is also a bit more euphonic than Yggy. The combo may not be...- Hardwired

MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers
I have to second this. When my wife started playing online games with me I adapted my music server PC into a gaming PC for her, which meant the game sound was sent through the same sound chain (Gungnir MB->Mjolnir 2->Yamaha amp->Paradigm speakers) as my music is. The game sound is amazingly...- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I use a wooden tongue depressor to hold the tube saver down when I roll tubes. Simple, cheap and easy. And the tubes are easier and faster to roll. Win-win. I didn't ask my wife why she had a cache of depressors, but it did work out well for me.- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Oh, it gets sadder when you realize I bought 2 kits, knowing I would probably screw up the first one and then learn from my mistakes on the 2nd.I barely got started on the 2nd kit when the power supply doesn't work and I gave up on it too. Want a couple of barely used kits that need a little...- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I looked at that a few months back, but the exchange rate had it over $600 at the time. Now for roughly $350 I can take a chance on one, so I ordered it. Thanks for reminding me about the Tube Imp. My experiment with the DIY kit for a uTracer ended with a lump of worthless circuitry so maybe...- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Which I did. These tubes are sizable investment and I decided to take care of them accordingly. Take half a styrofoam peanut, drop it into the bottom of a generic white tube box, slide the tube in (pins into the peanut), label the lid, decide where to put it in the foam, slide it in...- Hardwired

I use a small Tube Cube from Tube Depot, that's a Pelican case with pinch-and-pull foam squares in it. I got the small one because once it's full I must be done, right? Edit: Link https://www.tubedepot.com/t/other-stuff/tube-cubes- Hardwired

NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions
I use the preamp out to a receiver and speakers as much as I use the headphone amp. The sound is run through the tubes before the preamp so you get the tube magic through speakers as well. I can't compare it to your Maverick since I've never heard it but the Lyr 2 keeps me happy all day at...- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
The circuit board is well laid out and the kit parts come in multiple bags to keep stuff together. The instructions are pretty good if you know what you're doing (I hadn't used a soldering iron in 25 years, so I had some problems) and are laid out to do a section of the circuit and then test it...- Hardwired

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I also have to say I haven't heard any tubes that I didn't like. Telefunken, Philips, Amperex, Mazda, Valvo, Reflektor, Siemens, Tesla and even the stock tubes that came with the Lyr 2 all sound good. It's just after listening to a bunch that I began to pick out what sounds 'gooder' to my ears. ...- Hardwired

Schiit Gungnir DAC
I just figure Schiit Audio is the very antithesis of snake oil, so when they say something needs to be warmed up to sound its best, that must be advice from their own testing of the equipment. I keep mine turned off overnight and turn it on when I get home from work, and the music generally...- Hardwired
