Some recommendations from my past experience: Senn HD598, HD25-1 ii Denon D2000, D1100 Audio Technica M50, ESW9 Shure SRH840 AIAIAI TMA-1 KOSS DJ100 V-Moda Crossfade LP   All of them do not require serious amping to sound good, which is essential for starters.

iPod Classic --> CLAS --> SR-71B balanced mode --> LCD-2 with Whiplash hybrid balanced cable

The brightness, or sibilance, does not go away after an extensive period of burn-in for my SR-71B - LCD-2 setup. That's one of the reasons I decided to sell SR-71B and wait for Rx Mk3. 

One of my friends who works for Sennheiser Asia has confirmed that HD700 will be announced early Jan. 2012, along with some other new models as well. He politely refused to go into further detail so I have no idea what "other models" are.

Googleli,   LCD-2 were my primary cans for a long time but I occasionally use them with not-so-portable rig (CLAS + SR-71B), largely due to Rob, Laszlo (Warp08) and Jude's recommendation. LCD-2 are still part of my home rig but the fact is that I recently acquired Audio-Technica's ANV combo...

Just tear earpads off slowly and carefully. They are glued on the wooden housing. Then re-glue the other pair of earpads you wish to swap onto the housing.

I didn't jump on the LCD-3 but I do have LCD-2 and SR-71B to compare when RX MK3 becomes available.

Strange, but according to many other owners of L3000, they are definitely "basshead" headphones, very different from W1000 and W5000.

I just got notified by Audio-Cubes that my W3000anv have been shipped from Japan and they will arrive within next week!
