AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?
Does anyone have any suggestions for the foam that goes behind the passive radiators? From the images it looks like a rather porous foam. Also, the foam is a buffer for the driver rings to pivot into and not for acoustical properties, correct?- Tequilasunriser

*Official Schiit Magni/Modi 2 ( Uber ) Thread*
I'd like some clarification about how the Modi 2 Uber is powered. Is the Modi 2 Uber powered by the USB port when used as a USB DAC? Is it only powered by mains for the optical and coax? On the site is states, "Power Supply: Modi 2 is USB powered, Modi 2 Uber has a linear power supply...- Tequilasunriser

OPPO PM-3 Portable Planar Magnetic Headphones Loaner Program
All done with unit #5 and ready to send to the next person. Impressions: The PM3s have a nice neutral signature. They can tend to be a bit shouty in the upper mids, but otherwise are pleasant with nice bass and sparkly treble. Comfort was great, the ear pads, although not real leather...- Tequilasunriser

Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 and Wireless!
This is Head-Fi after all. At the very least it is interesting being a fly on the wall watching people bicker about the nuances of FLAC vs. WAV vs. CD while they slug back their shots of snake oil from their cryo treated silver-core shot glasses (The silver core improves the body of the oil and...- Tequilasunriser

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
Yeah, there would be little stopping someone from taking Alpha cups/drivers and sticking them on a Prime headband and reselling them as primes. At that point they'd look identical, and the con artist would still have their Primes and a wad of cash.- Tequilasunriser

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog Revealed! - The World's First Production 3D-Printed Headphones
I don't want to read a review from biased Johnny Bumpkin who is only on his second pair of cans, the former being various versions of Mad Dogs. I want to hear what Tyll, an experienced listener, has to say and see his measurements before I buy. You should want this too. It's common sense...- Tequilasunriser

Bottlehead Amplifier Discussion / Comparison Thread: Crack, SEX & Mainline
True! Some mods I see the virtue in, others I do not; however, I should probably keep those opinions to myself. After all, there's many aspects to this hobby and DIY audio, and the exploration is part of the fun.- Tequilasunriser

O2 AMP + ODAC
PTom, you're in an O2+ODAC thread. Take the vitriol elsewhere. None of us care that you felt a $1000+ amp sounded better than our $65 amp. For $65 I think we can all agree it sounds really damn good.- Tequilasunriser

Thanks for the short but sweet review. Some people around here post long dissertations chock full of exaggerated claims and hyperbole. Short-but-sweet is a nice, welcome change from the usual drivel.- Tequilasunriser

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
Yes. I use a Bottlhead Crack with my DT880s. That's some silky-ass **** right there. For smooth sound on the cheap with the Crack use a Sino power tube and an RCA clear top gain tube (about $25 total if you shop smart.)- Tequilasunriser

Nice. You should love them. I've been through maybe 20 pairs of headphones and all that's left are the DT880s and the Mad Dogs, but I mainly only listen to the DT880s. They're perfect for every genre.- Tequilasunriser

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
Do you have to make any internal modifications to the crack to use 6SN7 as the driver tube or does it only require a socket adaptor?- Tequilasunriser

Crack;Bottlehead OTL
That was going to be my suggestion too, wrapping some sort of shielding around the RCA cables or redoing it with shielded cables. I seem to remember that being the most useful solution to resolving Crack hum over the years.- Tequilasunriser

Anyone know a good source for affordable velour pads? Beyer wants like $50 plus tax and shipping for a pair of fabric doughnuts. Ridiculous. That's 1/3 the entire price I got my DT880s (with pads) for.- Tequilasunriser
