24 vs 32-bit sound
Why are you effectively taking a 8x10" portrait and filling a highway billboard with it? That's all upscaling is! Listen to the dam thing in its native sample/bit depth over a decent playback system, and have a beer!- TheSonicTruth

Radio Broadcast Question
I'm willing to alter the sound of my material a 'little' for them, mainly for transmission S/N. If my listeners choose to be running a vacuum cleaner or lawn mower while listening to the radio, that's on them to sort out what they really need to be doing... ! I want the CD or WAV file I'm...- TheSonicTruth

Radio Broadcast Question
Well, I'd be willing to compromise. Not use 'as much' EQ, compression, or limiting as most other stations. Personally, I find most major market CHR and classic rock stations fatiguing to listen to, even at 40mph with my car windows halfway down.- TheSonicTruth

Radio Broadcast Question
*Please relocate this thread if there is a better subcategory for it, thanks!* Most radio stations, commercial ones at least, broadcast at 100 percent or more of their FCC-allowed modulation in order to 'stand out ' on the band, so to speak. They accomplish this via a varity of...- TheSonicTruth

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
I've gotten reasonably good results with this app on my devices: https://appadvice.com/app/equalizer/321267949 Say I'm attempting to correct for the Beyer DT880 pro, attached. I'll go into the Audioforge Equalizer App(7 parametric bands), and set for the five most eggregious frequencies...- TheSonicTruth

CD Analog(RCA) Out vs Digital(Optical) Out
But analog out = RCA out, in my case. I'm assuming the optical out on my carousel is digital. I just don't have any receiver with optical in - yet. Will have to hit the thrifts, I don't have the funds to buy a new receiver just to hear CD via its optical ins.- TheSonicTruth

Sonarworks Headphone Calibration software
Fundamentally, you're just not used to flat audio reproduction. As a TV calibrator, I get the same response from half of my clients: "it's too dim", "dull", etc.- TheSonicTruth

FM Broadcast And Retail In-Store Music Sub-feed
The IT manager that directed his employee "not to listen to the guy in an apron" is, along with his employee and myself, all employed by the same retailer. We're all inside. The only outsider technician was back in 2016, who rigged the bypass of the music through the telephony buss. If my...- TheSonicTruth

FM Broadcast And Retail In-Store Music Sub-feed
Yeah, the Kresge or Seeburg music I mentioned was more neutral. Funny you should mention stereo vs mono. The MIR player has stereo RCA outs, and only one channel is connected! Like you said, what do retailers know about in-store music - unless we're talking a music store! On modern music...- TheSonicTruth

FM Broadcast And Retail In-Store Music Sub-feed
I wish they would play that! Periodically our system would seize upon a particular top-fiver, a month or so after it peaked on FM: IE in early 2017, Drake's "Hotline Bling" got played twice per HOUR. "Usedta call me on my cell phone!.." Grrrr, made me cringe. If you're gonna play R&B, play...- TheSonicTruth

FM Broadcast And Retail In-Store Music Sub-feed
I WANT ONE OF THOSE where I work! lol Our playlist is so out of touch: A lot of crappy covers of classic hits(1960s-80s) instead of the originals, and altogether too much hip-hop and rave/dance club/nightclub tracks after midday! Plus, 'Mercedes Benz' is not even one of Janis Joplin's...- TheSonicTruth

FM Broadcast And Retail In-Store Music Sub-feed
Remember: I'm from the retail era, post-disk - where reel-to-reel and later compact cassette tape provided the music and announcements. So the FM band was used to subcarry music programmed specifically for a retail chain, and not 'buffered'(queued up like planes at an airport awaiting takeoff)?- TheSonicTruth

Worthy Of Consideration: ANC(Active Noise Cancellation) on the Road
Another reason why vehicular ANC will never be perfect - IE: completely cancel out all engine hum or road rumble at all seated positions in the cabin. I never noticed much of such noises in my comparable size '81 Buick Century - it had padding beneath the carpeting, and that padding extended...- TheSonicTruth

Worthy Of Consideration: ANC(Active Noise Cancellation) on the Road
My 'Active Noise Cancellation': Actively adding sound-deadening foam to the doors, firewall, and floor so that the music can be enjoyed at any volume preferred, without electronic noise bogging down the speakers. That's how we rolled.. No fancy whiz-bang circuitry.- TheSonicTruth

Does Sonarworks provide a list of, at least, the top 5-10 biggest adjustments made to the average curve for headphones? Freq, Q, and Gain(plus or minus)?
