For those who have heard the v2, how huge are the differences between v1 and v2 in soundstage? Does the v2 trade soundstage for imaging?

  That's perfectly normal for the first minutes, then the hum sort of disappear. It always has a really low hum, but only if you put your ears right next to it. I can't hear it 1 meter from the amp. Try some Russians 6H23P, or Amperex orange globe. But beware on ebay, lotsa fakes going...

  Not quality as per se, but insurance that the CD was ripped correctly. EAC has better quality control as it matches your rips to thousands of others with the same CD. However this can be tiresome if you are ripping a whole new library.

  This statement is simply not true. You can get great sound with HD800 from some low to mid-fi rigs, the key is synergy. A cheap DAC like a used dacmagic, or a modi2/wyrd, with a Vali or Matrix m-stage sounds terrific for a budget rig that just north of 300$.   Heck, even the Valhalla 2 goes...

My guess is that this will be a great budget set up, many use their GO as dac to portable amp. I think it will sound awsome with the Vali.
