    Earbuds Round-Up

This may be a long shot, but does anyone know of any earbuds with bass quality and extension like the VE Zen 1.0? I stopped keeping track of this thread like 3 years ago after I got the K's 300 Samsara, which basically checked all the boxes for me. But just recently, I dug up my old Zen 1.0 to...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

In case you were wondering about the durability of some of these IEMs: I recently performed the "car test" on my Bomaker SiFi 1 using a 2012 Honda Civic on a concrete driveway. I'm happy to report that my SiFi suffered only minor scratches and a slightly cracked shell. It still works and sounds...

ISN Earphones impression thread. New ISN H30!

No, the D10 just has a V-shaped sound. What I did was switch tips until I found a pair that deemphasized the sub/mid-bass just enough. I'm not sure which tips would work best for you, but the slimmer ones worked best for me (not so slim that the seal breaks though).

ISN Earphones impression thread. New ISN H30!

I got my D10 from Penon last week and just wanted to say thanks. I have no comparisons or poetic review, but the D10 checks all the boxes I've been looking for in an IEM for a decade: ergonomic fit (the best over-ear I've ever worn), non-garbage cable, good isolation, and legit bass. I've bought...

What is your primary ear bud foam cover type and set up?

I voted single donut but honestly it depends on the earbud regarding donut vs. full. My favorite foams are the thicker ones from the VE ex-pack. I read those were the same as Trig Rain foams, but not 100% sure.

    Tiny, ultra-slim IEMs (e.g. Vsonic VC1000, Ety ER4)

Thanks, the Final Audio E/F series look great, and they have detachable cables as well! I didn't know Final Audio started making more budget friendly IEMs. Thanks. I forgot about the q-Jays, thanks. They'll definitely be on my shortlist. Yup, that makes sense. They look a tad bit bulkier than...

    Tiny, ultra-slim IEMs (e.g. Vsonic VC1000, Ety ER4)

Hi, Does anyone have recommendations for physically small, thin IEMs? The VC1000 is the most comfortable IEM I've ever used, but mine are starting to fall apart. Besides the VC1000 (now discontinued), I can think of the Ety ER4 and Klipsch X5, but don't know what else is out there.

You're not the only one +2. I've also not touched my OMX980 in ages. Next time will probably be when I sell it to whoever would want it nowadays..

What's the difference between version 1 and 2 of K's 500 ohm? I can't find an explanation anywhere, on the aliexpress page or searching here.

    Earbuds Round-Up

I was just told mine shipped, finally after 2 1/2 months. They had some Ramadan delays and then Iriyan said something about getting government permission to legally sell with worldwide EMS or something, idk. yours will probably come soon      I havent been here in a long time and now this...

Impressions of the Official Head-Fi Houston Fourth-of-July Weekend Meet: Saturday - July 2nd, 2016 @ Looscan Library

First meet ever - very interesting. And overwhelming. You definitely gotta strategize for depth vs breadth. I thought there was more than enough time to get to every table, but people were packing up before I knew it.   I took the try-everything approach so I couldn't get too deep into the...

[2021 Update] Venture Electronics (VE) Monk V2, Monk Plus & Monk Go: a $5 earbud that taking the world by storm!!!

@zhibli06 @vapman   yes, I should've mentioned that ultimately it comes down to sound preference and physiology of your ear. very finicky stuff, as with all earbud foams. and maybe my ears are just weird, as i've never fathomed how most people seem to listen to the Zen 2 naked or with rubber...

[2021 Update] Venture Electronics (VE) Monk V2, Monk Plus & Monk Go: a $5 earbud that taking the world by storm!!!

guess i'm late because my monk+ took 3 weeks to arrive but i'll give my impression anyway :)   so first thing - im sorry but dear god, the included red/blue foams are TERRIBLE. uncomfortable and just barely better than wearing naked. pretty unfortunate, as I'm sure many people won't have a...

    Earbuds Round-Up

yep, using the Zen 2.0 full foams. Doughnut foams are alright but they don't give the same bass extension as the thick full foams.   @vapman the Cygnus is incredibly efficient so I doubt it. So efficient I can barely use them with my desktop DAC/amps even on low gain. Gotta turn the pots all...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I can throw in my 2 pennies worth on the Cygnus. I've had mine for the past couple of days and I'm really diggin the sound. It's very balanced with a smooth upper end that's not too rolled off, and wonderful mids. Vocals are just beautiful, with almost no sibilance whatsoever. So sound signature...

[2021 Update] Venture Electronics (VE) Monk V2, Monk Plus & Monk Go: a $5 earbud that taking the world by storm!!!

The PAA-1 was what drew me into earbuds and my first earphone as well. Its bass is waaay far away from neutral though, so you definitely won't find the same sound in the Monk. Around the same price range, the Awei ES10, Dasetn MC5, and Edifier H180/H185 will have similar bass quantity, but...

    Earbuds Round-Up

Look at Brooko's VE Zen reviews. I know there's a Monk vs. Zen 2 frequency response comparison somewhere, but maybe I couldn't find it. Here's his Zen 1 vs. Zen 2 comparison chart. Just replace the Zen 1 with Monk since their sound is so similar. Brighter yes, but I'm not really thinking about...

    Earbuds Round-Up

If you have the Monk, then skip the Edifier. The H180 is nowhere as good - boomy bass with poor extension - a combination of the worst qualities to have. The only earbud I've heard with worse bass extension is the Tingo TG-38s, which is pretty sad.   And for your earlier question. both the...

VE - A New and Impressive Earbuds Brand

same here, I just got my rubber rings from aliexpress and was very disappointed. Extremely uncomfortable, expensive, and inconsistently cut. While they do make it more listenable than naked, it's nowhere near enough. Bass extension is still pretty bad. Back to full foams for me :)

VE - A New and Impressive Earbuds Brand

Thanks for the link. I just bought the lot of 10 for $20 since $6.50 for one pair is pretty ridiculous. I'll try to resell the extra ones I get in the US for $2+shipping if they're good. I didn't get the Earhoox with my Zen cause I was too impatient :)

VE - A New and Impressive Earbuds Brand

Got my Zen 2.0 a few days ago, so here's a quick comparison with the Zen 1.   Other - The shell is different indeed. It's still some MX500 lookalike, but I think it's a tiny bit slimmer. I like it. - Better build quality but cable is still pretty microphonic. - Shorter cable and the chin...

  24. rymd

    Earbuds Round-Up

No, that's not true. Yuin shells are considerably slimmer than MX500 (VE/Blox) shells.   I did some quick measurements by eye, so probably a bit of error here:   MX500 diameter: 1.8 cm Yuin diameter: 1.6 cm Senn MX98x diameter: 1.7 cm   MX500 thickness at the widest part: 0.5 cm Yuin...

    Earbuds Round-Up

I don't think so, as VE uses a pretty standard shell you'll find everywhere. E100 as already mentioned is much smaller and probably my choice, but not an upgrade over Monk (sidegrade). The Yuins are only very slightly smaller. Senn MX98x is a bit smaller in diameter, but also thicker/bulkier...
