Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions
I find this intriguing. One of the few cases I have seen where the headphones themselves feel vastly out of proportion from the rest of the chain.- TheDreamthinker

Written by French aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, this particular entry has become one of the widely read pieces of fiction of the 20th century and a staple of world literature as a whole. At its heart a simple children's book, it discusses deep philosophical topics such as vanity, greed, friendsh- TheDreamthinker

Rupert Neve Designs Announces The RNHP: Precision Headphone Amplifier
Hello everyone. I am looking to a new headphone amp in future and the RNHP is among my considerations, alongside: Cavalli Liquid Carbon Schiit Jotunheim Chord Mojo (or it first and then supplement it later with the RNHP/Liquid Carbon as amps) Although I have seen some of these amps...- TheDreamthinker

What book are you reading right now?
Today, I would like to contribute a book, which is very close to my heart and has (intellectually and practically) changed my life in many ways: This book, written by Imperial College London professor David Nutt, explores from a purely scientific view the psychopharmacological and...- TheDreamthinker

Noise, Reverb & Dissonance [Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Post Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Ambient & more]
Thanks for dropping by. I completely agree with you. Like books and movies, certain genres of music also have times of year where they seem more 'inviting' than others. (in some parts of the globe more than others). I also feel, although the genres have obviously never died, they are...- TheDreamthinker

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
The capacity is basically 'infinite' (currently the biggest you can purchase is 256GB). And in case of the AK100, two times that. Just don't forget to format it to FAT32, otherwise it won't work. The brands are all comparable (if not identical under the brand). Just get the highest...- TheDreamthinker

Ultimate Ears UE Pro Reference Remastered! (UERR)
I had the same impression. This is why I am somewhat tempted to track down and reshell an UERM, simply because I feel it improves better on the points I want to upgrade on my ER4s.- TheDreamthinker

Ultimate Ears UE Pro Reference Remastered! (UERR)
Thanks mate, I just read one of your previous posts saying smth. similar. It could be that reduction in treble might have lead to my impression of less immediate clarity and (subsequent) wow. I just did not expect the difference be this drastic, as the UERR almost falls into my impression...- TheDreamthinker

Ultimate Ears UE Pro Reference Remastered! (UERR)
I recently had the opportunity to listen to the universal demo of the UERR. Never having owned either cIEM, I was curious to how it would differ to my memory of the UERM. Not having both on hand, i could only work from emotionally induced memory of the UERM, which I had heard two years prior...- TheDreamthinker

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Your question is not very clear. What is your goal? , AK100s are being sold fairly frequently here on the forums at around $300-400. Yes, $200 would be very cheap for an AK100. Please read my previous post on this in which i stated, that the AK100 is usually/frequently being used as a...- TheDreamthinker

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
Quote: Technically there should be no difference in terms of signal processing. @nmatheis The DAP of the player is bypassed in favour of the mojo's DAP technology. The DAP should only be a transport.- TheDreamthinker

The New iRiver/Astell & Kern AK100: A High-End DAP
Glad to give my 2 cents. If I were you though, I would tend more toward trades. I'd estimate the current value of a stock AK100 to be about $300-$400. For that trade value, you might find something more interesting/valuable than the money.- TheDreamthinker

Pictures of Your Portable Rig (part XVI)
I cannot elaborate on their source dependants, as I have not tried enough sources to have a good picture of that. In terms of genre diversity, I would politely disagree. To my taste they can play almost any genre well (in this category, the ATH-AD-series for example is worse). But if there...- TheDreamthinker
