Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
OTL amplifiers like the Little Dot Mk II are not designed to run low impedance planar headphones like the HE400SE. You will find it works the best with headphones over 150 ohms. Your best bet would be to connect the Line Out of the Mk II to the Line In of the L30 and use the tubes as a preamp...- TrollDragon

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
From what I've read they use Tip for + and Ring for -, nothing on the Sleeve. If you used a TS 2.5mm instead of TRS it should work fine.- TrollDragon

DIY Cable Questions and Comments Thread
I don't know anything about changing the headband or yokes, but you can easily convert them over to dual entry. I use 4 pin tiny XLR sockets on my conversions if there is room in the cup for them as most of my cables are tiny XLR. Otherwise I use 3.5mm TRS sockets if space is an issue. If...- TrollDragon

Good eye it is indeed an OG X3. I should upgrade it but I really like that Wolfson sound. I run a FiiO E12 with it for harder to drive headphones like the T50 or DT880.- TrollDragon

From what I read pin 1 is - and pin 3 is +. A quick check with ohm meter on a stock cable would confirm this.- TrollDragon

My T50RPs have dual 4 pin sockets. This allows for a dual wire balanced connection or a single single sided SE connection just using only the left side. I guess it's all about preference and convenience, I use the T50RP mobile and the single sided cable is short and easy.- TrollDragon

IMHO the nut on the inside is a much cleaner installation, you would have to play with spacers inside to use the external nut variation. A little JB Weld or similar epoxy will hold secure the socket threads in place. The connecting wires I used were enamel coated litz, the drivers only handle...- TrollDragon

I'm quite sure I anchored my Tiny XLR sockets in with epoxy, the nut wouldn't fit if I remember correctly. One thing to be EXTREMELY careful about is the driver solder tabs, they can be very easily pulled out of the plastic once heated and that can snap the hair like voice coil wire.- TrollDragon

A little too huge for just a cable IMHO, was this new cable balanced? If so you need to volume match the SE and Balanced outputs to get a more realistic impression.- TrollDragon

The Dekoni pads would be $142.30 CAD landed here in Canada, more than I paid for the 99 Classics. I'll stick with the authentic stock pads from Amazon for $30 CAD with free shipping.- TrollDragon

These are designed as RF connectors so the center post is the signal and the shell is the ground. For audio, the general rule of thumb is center + shell -.- TrollDragon

Nice job on the LED change, I converted my MK IV over to an amber LED within the first week. :beerchug: The headphone jack on the MK2/3/4 series LD is directly in parallel with the RCA pre out jacks. There is no circuitry difference between the two outputs, you can most definitely use the pre...- TrollDragon

The 6H6N tubes are output tubes, the 6J1 are driver tubes, they are not the same. The jumpers and switches are for the driver tubes only. Do you not have a manual for the amp? http://www.popular-hifi.com/projects/nad_stereo/little_dot/little_dot_mk2_manual.pdf- TrollDragon

We have had a flavor ban here in Nova Scotia for 2 years now. I switched over to flavorless juice 6 months before the ban came into effect, it took a little getting used to but it was no big deal. It might be a dirty or loose connection on your RCA cables at either end. The preamp out RCAs and the headphone jack are actually wired in parallel, there are no extra components in the preamp out circuitry.- TrollDragon

I found gain 10 way to noisy to be anywhere useful. There are literally pages and pages of happy HD650/6XX LDMK2 owners out there so It's boggling as to why it doesn't supply enough power for your pair. Have you tried a different source than the SMSL?- TrollDragon

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
My Little Dot MK IV puts out 500mW @ 300Ω and will push my DT880 (250Ω) too loud anywhere past 12:00 on the volume dial. I'm using a gain of 5 on the amp. The Mk 2 is only 300mW @ 300Ω and your HD6XX are actually easier to drive than the beyers. Under $500 I would suggest the XDuoo TA-26, the...- TrollDragon

We have all rolled a tube or two in our amps to find the best... ;) My favorite tube for the past 7 years with my DT880s has been the Yugoslavian EI 6HM5 tall version. The chances of getting a pair out of Serbia anytime soon might be quite difficult though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/401082139160- TrollDragon
