With the Susvara, I've owned the following... Speaker amps: Hegel 120 NAD M22 Benchmark AHB2 Headphone amps: Benchmark HPA 4 Luxman p-750u Holo Bliss KTE In my experience, the Bliss KTE has been the clear winner in every category. What shocked me was that the AHB2 sounded extremely anemic and...- devilboy

...out there Forgive me if this has been asked already Anyone tried driving Susvara with class D amplifiers like bel canto ref 500m or NAD m22 integrated amplifier? I have H6se v2 which I am pairing with chord hugo tt2 now, at times I feel tt2 doesn’t have enough juice to drive to the...- cammoni

Will have a play after work today. Unfortunately DAC is May which doesn’t allow for volume change. The m22 unfortunately as well is the v1 version not the v2 which has the gain switch. Doesn’t seem to an issue with Athena for some reason where volumes are at 30 to 50%. Will experiment more with...- atya35mm

I know what you mean I am using the CFA3 now with my susvara and it is marvelous...the power and control is difficult to describe and I loved my bakoon 13r with it already....- jlbrach

Congrats on acquiring the NAD. Regarding issues with the WA33, you do have the M22 set to lowest gain, right? Also, does your DAC have adjustable output level? If so, you could bring it down some (don't overdo it). It's definitely worth at least trying out a tube preamp, IMHO, if you can solve...- BassicScience

Welcome to the class D dark side! The M22 is pretty similar to my NC400 monoblocks I believe, with a few more bells and whistles. It is certainly a few steps above the Ferum stack.- chargedcapacitor

Nice one man. u have the best of both worlds; even though the athena is solid state, it always reminded me of a tube pre. how are u finding the athena? I felt it did a whole lot better than the wa33 as a pre. and I agree, a good pre and power combo is definitely an improvement over the ferrum...- Roasty

Looks like I've become another speaker amp convert. Finally caved in after 2 years with the Susvara. Gone with the NAD M22, and Denafrips Athena as preamp. This setup basically replaces the Ferrum Oor / Hypsos, which as good as the Ferrum is, the NAD / Athena combo is at least one or two levels...- atya35mm

Hey Roasty, congrats and I'll be quite interested in your impressions of the M23. When I was researching Purifi amps to try out with Susvara, I looked at the NAD C298 but noticed a few negative comments on various forums related to ergonomic issues (hopefully addressed in the M23), so ended up...- BassicScience

...+ class D is great! I truly regret selling my Apollon purifi amp. I recently got the itch again, and remembered you had and really liked the NAD M22, so decided to try something similar and pulled the trigger on a NAD M23. it's purifi based so not sure how it will compare to Hypex, but am...- Roasty

NAD M22 V2, as per my signature. I've also used an Apollon Purifi Mini in the past, with similar sonic results. Both highly recommended in conjunction with driving Susvara or various estats (by way of a transformer box). Both of the mentioned amps have gain level switches, which come in handy...- BassicScience

The EF1000 is also a great speaker amp too if you also have speakers as well as headphones, and are limited to space to have a separate headphone system and a separate speaker system. If you factor in the EF1000 is a pre-amp (that can take three inputs - two for RCA, one for XLR balanced) and...- Bonesy Jonesy

...Roon, as you suggest. I've never owned or even heard an AHB2. My Purifi amp is currently back in Slovenia getting serviced, so I'm using the NAD M22 V2. They are pretty similar in terms of sonic performance. The Susvara/EF1000 and Solitaire/HA 200 combos both delivered exceptional sound...- BassicScience

That's more about implementation of psu or architecture. Nothing about one having more power and thus, giving better output quality on the Susvara.- 801evan

Well my DAC outputs 4 volts via XLR and when I send that signal to the Luxman, I can tell the density is not on par with the NAD M22. Much more meat on the bones with the M22.- devilboy

When my p-750u volume control is at 12 right now (high sensitivity) and I'd say it is too loud for me. There is a ton of untapped power. How many volts are you outputting from your DAC, and are you doing any DSP which requires limiting the headroom? I have 6v from the DAC and no headroom...- SuperBurrito

Replacement Susvara arrived today. First pair arrived with defective left driver. I will A-B with Luxman p-750u and NAD M22. So far with Luxman, with sensitivity on high, I have to turn the volume up a little higher past normal. Sound seems to be more natural than my HEKse and this is with zero...- devilboy

Agreed, although it's longer than I would have made it. Interestingly, on the V2 version of the NAD M22, they moved the speaker posts to the center, which is obviously more optimal when using an adapter cable.- BassicScience
