    Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

Thanks for the reminder. I thinks I was grandfathered in at a lower monthly rate for a while, and forgot all about it.

    Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

I'm not seeing this on my monthly Studio streaming payment, and I'm in the same US state. Could be only for downloads, but I can't imagine why. I also use PayPal for Tidal, to avoid a foreign transaction fee that showed up on my regular credit card years ago.

    Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!

I'm still subscribing to Tidal and Qobuz, endlessly comparing. I've no interest in the other on-demand music streaming services. Have to admit though, I mostly just listen to four CD-quality FLAC streams from internet radio station Radio Paradise. They support MQA only for BlueOS at this time...

Version 2.32.0.12 here. After I toggle Exclusive Mode on, the other two grey out and can't be changed. The solution for me was to first toggle Force Volume on, then toggle Exclusive Mode on. I don't use Passthrough because I've switched back to a Schiit DAC, so I left that toggled off.

Interesting. All I can suggest is to make sure Tidal has exclusive control of the sound in that same settings panel. Can't help beyond that.

The speaker icon at the lower right should be grayed out. If not, from the user menu at the upper left go to "Settings" > "Streaming", under "Sound" next to "Sound Output" click "(More settings)", and select "Force Volume".

PONO - Neil Youngs portable hi-res music player

All I can suggest is that you also ask in two more places: Audiophile Style has given refuge to the last remnants of the Pono forums here, and before that some of those folks also started a Facebook Group here.

USB Audio Player PRO (UAPP): 24- and 32-bit playback, ubiquitous USB audio support for Android

Type an "@" sign in front of "Davy Wentzler" and he's tagged like this: @thepiper92 After reporting your model and problem here, if he requests a log, then in the app open the side menu (the "hamburger menu"), and near the bottom of the list you'll find "Send log to developers".

That's not happening on my phone, but you can prevent your screen from turning off in UAPP settings > User interface > Always keep screen on.

It says some people can hear the difference and some people can't. And among those who can, some can only describe it in emotional terms. It doesn't mention MQA at all. They used actual 24/192 Hi Res files, like the kind one can stream or buy on Qobuz. (The tree falls in the forest thing was a...

Technically that's a macron not an umlaut, but either way seems very unnecessary, at least for English speakers. "Audio nirvana", we get it. Maybe the pronunciation is more confusing in French? The developer is French. (On the other hand, Americans often say "Zendaya" wrong the other way round...

And here's an academic study that shows some people can't hear any difference, while others can. Among those who can, many are able to describe it only in emotional terms. http://www.doc.gold.ac.uk/~mas03dm/papers/SoundQuality_WilliamsonSouthMullensiefen_ICMPC2014.pdf I can hear it well, but...

When I play software decoded MQA though non-MQA Schiit DACs it sounds good to me, often the same as equivalent hi-res streaming from Qobuz.

Everyone's ears are different. The original Z7 might have worked better for you in that case. I found the Z7 warm to the point of muddiness, and I've found the Z7M2 just right, with my Magni 2U and also with a Magni 3 that I got since posting that old comment, as well with as other amps. (My...

    Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!

The Tidal app for LMS/Squeezebox does not support MQA. Certification would cost time and money, so I doubt that will ever happen. This has been discussed many times on the slimdevices forum. (For Hi-Res streaming on LMS/Squeezebox I use my local downloads or the Qobuz streaming app for LMS, but...

    Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!

A day and three pages later, lol, but here's an answer: there's also the "time domain" thing. I've never heard it and I can't explain it, but here you go: https://audiophilereview.com/cd-dac-digital/mqa-its-about-time-not-frequency/

    Tidal Masters & MQA Thread!

High resolution audio sounds better than Red Book, if you can hear the difference. Not everyone can. MQA is supposed to replicate high resolution audio, and on the best equipment can even add what they call the "time domain" that you'd hear when you're in the room. To me, when done right MQA...

That's my point: often the rights holders are not at all representing the original artists or their intent, and some of the stuff they have approved to put through the MQA grinder makes no sense. While listening to MQA I've come across a bassy remix that don't sound at all like the master tape...

    Qobuz Lossless Streaming Service Thread

The Qobuz app is very demanding, but I've noticed over the last year each new release has been less resource-intensive and more responsive even on my slowest PC. The product manager promised they would be working on that, and so indeed they have been.

No I was just talking about the record labels allowing non-master albums to become MQA releases, which Tidal calls "Masters" whether they are or not. This is legal but it's still fraud. There are different types of authentication. Often it's the current rights holders, who are not artists at...
