Both my Rotel integrated amp and entry level Yamaha CD player have frontside USB ports for flash drives. External PC drives don't work, but the Rotel came with a bluetooth dongle I use with an Amazon Echo. Neither device supports FLAC files, but I believe the newer Rotel devices will.

Not at all. The selected source will see a constant load no matter where the wiper is positioned. It's the input of the next device that experiences a varying resistance.

If SYS is used as a "destination selector" with the pot set at minimum, the source device outputs will be shorted to ground. Set the SYS pot to max and use an upstream device to control volume. Or use two downstream devices.

For a long time, I've referred to such vehicles as SLVs for Sports Luxury Vehicles. The original Carryall, predecessor to the Suburban, was designed to haul five or six sweaty construction workers and their gear to and from job sites. Who's willing to try that with their Maserati or even a...

@bcowen has taken all the cardboard talk threats quite well. I think he deserves an upgrade to some kind of tropical hardwood.

Iron holders for both. My power panel is mounted in a Formica-clad plywood box. That's one step up from cardboard, isn't it?

All good advice. Always power down... I've got a power panel salvaged from an assembly at work with four or five duplex outlets. The outlet for my two soldering stations has a one-hour lighting timer as power-down backup. I rarely turn it past 30 minutes, but might do that multiple times per...

That's a great one. Here's another you might enjoy: Anyone who appreciates jazz should check out KKFI.org weekdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Central. Each day is a different programmer and focus. Four of the programmers are performers themselves and all are highly knowledgable. You'll hear...

I thought The Hu was interesting. I'll have to listen to more when my wife isn't around. If you like GoGo Penguin, give Mammal Hands a try:

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

I can't argue that they held up well. I definitely got my money's worth - about a penny and a half per hour. For now, though, I'm not considering collapsible frames. The snag hazard isn't anything that could get me injured. A dual entry cable is more likely to catch on a unit or circuit...

What a long, strange trip it's been -- (Robert Hunter)

Thanks for the reply. While I've got the tools and skills for the job, I'd rather avoid mods on a brand new purchase. I actually want to replace a pair of M50x that have around ten thousand hours on them. I really appreciate their sound profile. Mechanically, though, the stops on the...

I'm looking for a pair of closed cans, single entry cable, and in the same price range as the DT 770. Do those have a detachable cable?

The transport itself already had my interest. "Digital hub" really has my curiosity. It's not just entertainment and productivity electronics doing well. My employer's customers fall mostly in the aeronautics/aerospace sector and we've had the most profitable year in decades. Next year...

Ableza, Your no nonsense approach to audio has earned you high credibility in my book. I truly appreciate my Modi Multibit, so I haven't quite justified buying the Yggdrasil I really want. After reading your review, I'm glad I waited and will be adding one to my cart when the Unison interface...

A local radio station has a prog show on Thursdays between 2:00 and 5:00 am. I've been listening to Prognosis on the archives (in glorious mono) and discovered Jolly. Not bad,. A touch of vocal growl in one song, but the rest of the vocals are agreeable to my ear. I think what I like about...

Another Mani>Jil>computer vote here. Recording through Saga, then playing back through Saga would double (or square?) your tube effect. If you want to monitor - and you will - use a Y cable from Mani to Jil and Saga. Audacity is great for recording software. Even though I bought a license...

The only other control I really need is balance. To meet WAF, my listening position isn't centered between speakers. It's a tiny sacrifice.
