Review by 'snapacap' on item 'Sennheiser HD 569 Closed Back Headphone'

Fruity Backstory: This is a headphone that really took me by surprise. I was out looking around in Microcenter, like one does, and found they have an isle with gaming headsets, and studio/audiophile closed-back headphones available to try. I got the chance to try them all at free will, since...

Review by 'snapacap' on item 'Audio-Technica ATH-AD500X '

This is absolutely one of my new favorite headphones. I have danced around the mid-fi world for a while looking for something just like this. I play a lot of games. For all of my teenage years I played (on average) a very unhealthy 10 hours a day. This is what got me into the audio game. I have...

Reply to review by 'snapacap' on item 'Garage1217 Project Polaris'

@ch0nk I don't have an HD650 currently on hand, so I tested with my HD600. I find the V20 -> Polaris combo to be a bit brighter, and a little less bass punch than my Fiio e10 -> Polaris combo. There was no noticeable loss in detail or clarity. Perhaps a bit more grainy?  I honestly think this is...

Size Matters - Earpad hole measurements for Over-ear Headphones....

HD800's are about as big as it gets in terms of space for ears. Current measurements: Inner Height:  82mm Inner Width:   62mm Inner Depth:   22mm - 32mm (fromt to back)   The problem that a few people experience is usually due to a head shape and big ear combination. If you have a...

@caenlenfromOCN I have the Monoprice 8323, and I use angled brainwavz pleathers on them. They sound great, but I cant stand the comfort. They clamp too much, (I am particularly sensitive to clamp) and they get hot after a bit. I have run them with everything from an Iphone 4 to my Project...

Interesting. I have always been kinda wishy-washy about how much (if hardly any) difference cables make. If I ever get the opportunity I would love to review and compare some more cables.

Review by 'snapacap' on item 'AudioQuest - Nighthawk Headphones'

Design & Comfort:   Why can't you all do this? AudioQuest makes their first headphone and immediately gets so many things right that other companies seem to completely ignore. They even had the guts to experiment heavily with materials design, and even sound.   Wow. This factor is seriously...

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

I don't recommend the Ocean for the HD700. It gave far less detail and clarity compared to my Polaris, or even my Fiio e10. I have you find something that really makes them shine for you!

I am definitely on the treble could be smoother side. I had an evanesence song where at one point everything converged on a peak. I had to turn the volume down as a result.

AudioQuest NightHawk Impressions and Discussion Thread

After a few hours of Initial listening; I find the sound to be similar to that of closed headphones where there is a lot of body to the sound, but still tries to be open and clear at the same time. These are Unique for sure. Also they are comfortable. Thank goodness.

    Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

I just want you all to know that you get dry apple juice out of HD700 drivers by pouring unreasonable quantities of 70% rubbing alcohol into either earcup assembly and blow-drying. You are welcome.

    Headphone comparison: Sennheiser HD700, Denon AH-D2000, Sony MDR-7520, Audeze LCD-2 rev.1 and a pair of Logitech UE6000s

I have some brief comparisons at the bottom if it helps: http://www.head-fi.org/products/superlux-hd-668-b/reviews/17872   Honestly, if you are simply looking to one-up the 668b where it shines, you will likely have trouble without spending lots of money especially if you have the 668b well...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

There are two ways to attach them. First, you could cannibalize the old pads and mount the HM5 on the plastic rings that those have on the back. The second way, which I recommend, is adapter rings found...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Technically, if they get loud enough, you are driving them... I can say that both of those amps don't have the greatest extension, and aren't the clearest. I suspect you could get more clarity and extension with a single, higher power amp.   The reality is that powering headphones comes down...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

The vocal is more forward on the HD600. Neutral is the name of the game for the HD600. One of its best qualities is being neutral while not sounding thin, or too flat. Personally I find that amping them better helps with concerns in this department. I also use an EQ with mine to make them a bit...

    Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

HD650 will be darker, have more bass, and some more soundstage. The HD600 is Neutral, Natural, somewhat clearer in vocal (imo) and has some rolled off bass. I would say the HD650 is smoother too. They are very similar though.

    Headphone comparison: Sennheiser HD700, Denon AH-D2000, Sony MDR-7520, Audeze LCD-2 rev.1 and a pair of Logitech UE6000s

I agree that the HD700 has some serious abilities, especially in the 3D department. I can't believe how easy it is to get a pair for relatively cheap!

These are absolutely more relaxing than SR850s. My brother uses Superlux 668b with a harsher, very resolving tone. He actually thought about buying the pioneers off me. As long as you get yourself some pads that dont suck, you should be quite pleased.
