...the Aero uses an input board from HEM, which is the parent company of Ferrum Audio. I asked if it was possible to port the Wandla's digital filters to the Aero given the use of the board, but the Aero only uses the input controller board while the digital filters are implemented on a...- SolarCetacean

Can you hear upscaling?
...audio? EDIT: Ah... you are correct square waves are illegal signals in digital audio. They are in analog audio. No wonder why digital filters that can correctly reconstruct music with correct timing of transience would sound more analog p.s.: KORG ER-1 is an analog drum machine (Korg...- sunjam

I agree with your choice of FIR3 for the AKM - Short Delay Sharp Roll Off. I also agree about the ROHM filters having a more significant effect - I far prefer FIR2 - Slow Roll Off - personally. Can you hear upscaling?
How often do you encounter "square waves" in the music you listen to? Theoretical square waves are illegal in digital audio. Digital audio is band-limited. Only properly band-limited square waves are allowed. Those can ben handled with ease if needed. By the time the transducers and possibly...- 71 dB

...setting was Coastin by Boney James. If you like a chill jazzy tune, definitely try it out. I really like having the great HQ Player level filters outside of HQ Player. ...provide TOTL level of details, so could be a nice choice. Noirs are more mid-fi, fun and v-shaped sounding, but they could also be sibilant unless you use supplied filters which unfortunately dampen sound even more. Talking about ESS and CS dacs - it is very hard for me to hear difference in filters. Talking about AKM - I can hear a slightly noticeable, very subtle difference beetween filters, especially Slow Roll Off and Sharp Roll Off filters, my favourite AKM filter for all AKM dacs (4493, 4497, 4499) is...- Ben86

Can you hear upscaling?
I got the following graph from a fellow member. They show the effects of different oversampling filters on square wave. This may give you an idea of how critical the filter is when the DAC reconstruct the final audio signal.- sunjam

Can you hear upscaling?
With Chord DACs, DSD is converted back to 16fs PCM though but if the DSD conversion from HQPlayer is excellent to begin with, there will be measurable differences in the output from a Chord WTA filter applied to PCM from converted DSD to PCM from the FPGA programming- theveterans

Can you hear upscaling?
Tried DSD256 or 768k if you can. The digital filters play an important role here too. If you didn't try HQPlayer before, I suggest you can try it (as it opens my eyes to upsampling music). With the free trial, you can have unlimited 30-min playing sessions with full functionality. Cheers...- sunjam

...say that I can't hear any difference. It was the same with the Q7 and other devices that have had the same filter options. Of all the things that make a difference in sound, there is a hierarchy: headphones > amplifier > DAC > filters (Not going to include cables here to avoid the controversy!)- KaiFi

I don't think I would want the OG Pilgrim tamed down too much, coming from a treble sensitive person. I tried it with Oxygen filter and after 40+ hours the filters came off and now I think it just gets better and better 200 + hours in.- ToneDeafMonk

Ferrum WANDLA - Impressions Thread
...the V200 has a resistor engaged afaik.
