    AKG K340 Electrostatic Phones

I did. Here is a quick measurement showing how the Pads alter the Frequency Response. The Blue line represents the XL Pads and the Orange line are the stock pads. Generally the larger pads increased the bass response and created a treble peak between 5-6kHz. The XL pads are certainly more...

    AKG K340 Electrostatic Phones

Decided to order the Brainwave XL sheepskin pads for my K340. I'll try to take some new measurements with the pads to see how they impact the sound. I've found the bass on the default pads are quite good and that im still able to get a good seal even with glasses however I would like more...

    AKG K340 Electrostatic Phones

I'd like to see if there's a good after market pad that maintains a similar frequency response to the original. I've seen some recommend the Brainwavz XL pads as a good fit. I would guess the sheepskin would be most similar performance but I'm open to other ideas of anyone has had good success.

    AKG K340

Decided to give another go at the AKG K340 after finding a pair in excellent condition... My prior memory of them was fond and I had always had a lingering desire to give them another shot! It's not an understatement to say these need a lot of power to show off their talents. They are also...

    New AKG headphones K175, K245, K275

K245's arrived today. Initial build impressions are good, I'm fond of the simplistic studio styling these have. The cable I quite dislike, the rubber coating comes off as feeling plasticy and is more microphonic than I would like. Good thing it is detachable! Comfort is ok but hoping it...

    New AKG headphones K175, K245, K275

Just ordered myself a pair of the K245 to try out. I had also been eager to see how these would do when they were first announced and was a bit surprised to see how quickly they were discontinued. Nevertheless I'll be keen to see how these compare to my three favorite AKGs - The K400, K240DF...

Massdrop x THX AAA™ 789 Linear Amplifier - Impressions Thread

These are definitely not rework or resold units. The shipping time is low on these units because they are part of a large batch that went directly into the store. Typically the first drops are smaller batches and would not be available for immediate shipping.

    Akg K400

I currently use the K702 anniversary pads with my K400.   Changing the pads does effect the sound noticeably.  The stock pads seem to offer a wider more airy sound were the anniversary pads give a darker presentation with more bass emphasis.  This can be good/bad depending on music and innate...

    New AKG K92, K72 and K52 Closed-Back Headphones

Got my K52's in yesterday and started using them this morning.   Initially I did a quick comparison with my K400 and K240DF just to get a starting reference point.  Currently the K52 have a more metallic and peaky treble but I'm hoping this will soften with more use but overall a promising...

    AKG K240 Sextett--Grado'd AKG?

How does the Sextett compare to the K240DF?  I've head the K241 before and found it to be warmer with a bit more bass than the K240DF but the DF had better clarity detail and speed.  Overall I preferred the neutrality that the DF offers.

    AKG K340 Electrostatic Phones

I too had a Crack with speedball plus a K340.  I sold the K340 awhile back because I preferred the sound of the K400 more but there were certainly some things the K340 did exceptionally well.  It's still a great headphone and able to compete with current headphones on the market.  I felt its...

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I'll look again at the ER4SR.   I plan to use the earphones directly from my laptop or phone so the lower impedance of the new models will be a benefit!

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...

I lost my ER4S recently on a trip and will be looking to replace them with a new Ety.   Looking at the new ER4SR it seem they are a dark grey finish?  Are there any plans to offer other colors such as black or silver?   If not, I would probably get the ER4PT since I prefer the subdue look of...

Fostex TH500RP vs. Audeze EL-8 which to get?

I've been looking for comparisons between these two headphones but haven't found any yet.   I'd like to ask if anyone has owned both and how their sound compares or differs.  I know the Fostex can now be had for less which is making it more attractive but I'm interested in the lighting...

AKG K240DF quick first impressions... Now with pics!

They can be picky can to drive properly.  I recently bought a Rouge Audio Sphinx for my Speakers but it also has a headphone output.  Unfortunately it does not seem powerful enough for the K240DF or my K400 and requires the volume to be set almost to the point of clipping.  Both are still...

Elekit TU-8200 DX Headphone/Speaker Amp Review

Meant to say 600 ohm headphones.     I'd like to know if the amp works well with higher impedance headphones.  I now see some posts mentioning good results with 300 ohm sennheisers so I would guess they can drive 600 ohm cans to high levels as well.

Elekit TU-8200 DX Headphone/Speaker Amp Review

I love the bass from the 2a3 and would hope the tubes in the TU8200 can dig as deep. Id love a 300B amp but the price jump is more than I'd like to spend. I'm not much of a headphone listener these days so I'm mostly considering an amp for my Blumenstein Triton speakers which are rated at 92db.

Elekit TU-8200 DX Headphone/Speaker Amp Review

I've been looking to get the TU8200DX to replace my Bottlehead Stereomour 2a3. I find that my speakers want more power than the 3.5 watts I get from the Stereomour. I'm also drawn to the flexibility of tube rolling and built in headphone amp with the Elekit.

Meridian Director DAC: Anyone here own one?

Got my Director in yesterday and have it hooked up to the optical output of my TV streaming from my The Apple TV. Initial impressions are that the Medidiean does provide a step up from the DAC used in my NAD D3020 but it is a more subtle improvement that I had thought. With speakers there was...

Anyone using Arcam irDAC & what do you think of it?

The DAC will be connected to the optical out of the TV but the source will be an Apple TV4 which only has HDMI. I need something compact and discrete which is another reason the Director gets a nod. Schiit does make nice products I've just not been compelled to buy one yet but I'm willing to...

Any HD800 owners go back to AKG K701/2?

I found my AKG K240DF to be nearly the same signature as the HD800. It was surprising how close the two sounded when I compared them. Needless to say I still own and enjoy my K240DF!

Anyone using Arcam irDAC & what do you think of it?

I'm looking for a new DAC to connect to the optical out on my TV. Right now the Meridian Direct or the Arcam irDAC are my two top choices. The Meridian can be had for less but offeres fewer features. I mostly will use the optical input on the dac and don't need it to do much else. Do the two...

    Akg K400

I've owned my K400 for 6 or seven years longer than anywhere headphone. I've tried it with various amps over that time but the one that has kept me the most satisfied is my Bottlehead SEX 2.1 amp which has more than enough power for my K400 and does a great job with the K240 DF which has very...
