Good review! A bit of a correction is the Amiron uses 3.5mm connectors on the detachable cables not 2.5mm.

Thank you. I look forward to your review. Sure I can add it sometime. Yeah, it just needs the seal for the subbass to show well. It just shows you that in the past there was already a good understanding of acoustics in general and it really hasn't improved like many people say. I am somewhat...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'beyerynamic DT 150 Compact Closed Headphone (250 Ohms)'

The DT 770 80 ohms are a better choice for sub-bass from Beyer in the same price-bracket. The DT 150 focuses more on a linear sound is better for those who want good highs, mids, vocals, and decent bass. Sub-bass is one of the DT 150's weak point, it's more mid-bass oriented than sub-bass oriented.

Review by 'kman1211' on item 'Meze Audio 99 Classics'

Meze 99 Classics Review   The Meze 99 Classics was sent to me as part of the review tour. Impressions of the headphone are based on a week of use. They are a headphone I've been curious about trying and seeing how they sound, the Meze 99 Classics sounded better than I ever expected. I tried...

@AlexRoma Thank you, I may of exaggerated their sensitivity to systems but definitely are system sensitive. Oddly I found the K7XX a disappointment compared to the K712, the K712 sounded much better with more fullness, body, and coherency to it. They weren't the same at all despite what people...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'Sennheiser HD 650 Headphones'

I've noticed people definitely differ in regards to the HD 600 and HD 650. Some say they are similar and others like myself found them quite different. I preferred the HD 650 but found things I liked more about the HD 600. Honestly both bother me a bit, so I'm rather neutral on them but honestly...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'AudioQuest - Nighthawk Headphones'

True, I didn't have any trouble listening to them at first personally, but the Nighthawk was pretty much what I was expecting oddly enough as I was really having issues with the sound and fatigue on my other headphones, something was off on all of them and it was bothering more and more over...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'AudioQuest - Nighthawk Headphones'

I find the Nighthawks actually summit-fi in terms of fidelity. I'm surprised about the wildly varying opinions of the headphone. The headphone has made me realize just how full and big sounding my main system is. The Nighthawk can sound thin and hollow on other systems, especially portable. The...

Great review. I have to agree with how system dependent it's sound is. The headphone changes the most of all my headphones when I roll tubes or change systems. it's also much more revealing of faults than my other phones. If the tubes are noisy or microphonic, it's extremely easy to hear with...

Great review. I'm planning on purchasing a pair of nighthawks in about a month. Your impressions of them remind me of my DT 150, which is a good sign as I'm looking for that sound signature.   @fzman I have to agree about that. Many headphones I found considered neutral are actually quite bright...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'AKG K612 PRO Reference Studio Headphones'

Good review. I have both headphones myself, though the K612 is being borrowed currently. I do think the HD 600 is more refined and natural sounding overall. I do find the K612 has a bit of grain in the upper mids, the HD 600 does as well to a lesser degree. But despite this, some odd reason the...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'AKG K712 Pro'

@Jeangenie  I feel the K712 is fairly similar to the HD 600 when it's properly driven, the K712 can be sharp in the treble, be a bit glary, and have some funkiness going on in the soundstage if they don't have good synergy. But I do find them to sound a bit different, the presentation is...

@Sennyboy I'm very partial to the HD 650 myself, it and the K712 get about the same amount of use. The K712 is more dynamic and energetic than the HD 650 with a more spacious soundstage. The K712 has the upper hand for instrumental music, jazz, orchestral, and classical over the HD 650 imo. The...

@toxicdrift Ideal amp, not really sure, it depends on the price and the tubes if it's a hybrid or tube amp. There are a lot of amps I haven't heard. But I do know they love a lot of current.    @mrtim6 I would love to hear the Leben CS300XS sometime. But the price is way out of my reach. The...

Thank you. I haven't tried the K612 on my current system, I will be able to try it this weekend though. In the past I found the K612 had deeper reaching bass. But the K712s bass recently really came to life. The bass is a bit more textured than the K612 in my past experience but doesn't have the...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'Philips Fidelio X2'

I think reviews like this are good as they offer criticism of a headphone. Reviews are often too positive for headphones that don't necessarily deserve the praise. I admit I am guilty of it myself especially when I was less experienced. The criticisms I've read about the X2 deter me from the...

I think the prices of headphones should be reduced overall. There are definitely a lot of under-perfoming mid-fi headphones out there. I haven't heard the others you listed, but I did find the HD 598 an underperfomer. I guess it's a good idea to generally stick with the mid-fi trio.

Thank you. I find they are enjoyable to listen to, I like their more intimate vocals and sound a lot despite the occasional brashness in them. The only other thing I noticed is that they are not as refined as either of my AKGs. I find them a better compliment to my K712 than the K612 which is...

Reply to review by 'kman1211' on item 'Sennheiser HD 598'

Yeah, the HD 800 was better in the treble on high-end tube amps but the treble still got to me after a bit. Well I compared the HD 598 to my K612 for a bit yesterday, and I did hear the midrange issues on the HD 598. The HD 598s sound in general just didn't sound as pristine, detailed, and clear...

The HD 598 are great when I listened to them, it was well burned in so I didn't notice graininess. I have a pair of HD 555 and they sounded really grainy in the mids(literally sounded like real grain, it was weird as I never really heard something like that since) when I first got them the grain...

Well I was only able to compare the two briefly so it's just brief impressions, there could be other differences I didn't note at the time. They had a similar sound signature but the K612 having a fuller bass and more warmth were the most obvious differences between the two.

Nice review on the K712. I felt they were great on the right system and were easily my favorite of the K7xx line which I have mixed feelings about, I personally always preferred the K6xx line. I had similar impressions of the HD 598 and HD 800, the "out & away" soundstage struck me as odd and a...
