"Auto-Pause" in Firefox 2.0
Does anyone know if there is some kind of "auto-pause" feature in FF 2.0? I found--viz. Stumble Upon--a page with a "100 Best Covers" list and some sound samples/you tube clips. It wasn't doing it last night, but for some reason if that tab or FF isn't the focus, it is automatically pausing the...- oneeyedhobbit

Looking for Waterman Phileas
While I appreciate the advice, I'd like to keep the pen cost below $30. In that range, most of my research has indicated the Phileas or the Safari are the pens to get. So far, I'm leaning toward the Safari with a fine point, simply because I'm told it writes a bit better than the Phileas. I'd...- oneeyedhobbit

Firewire for iPod?
Well, I don't have the iPod (or anything else, for that matter) to test it with yet. I thought I recalled USB 2.0 coming out sometime after I bought my laptop. Maybe I'll hold off on ordering a PC Card until the iPod arrives and see how the transfer speed seems to perform.- oneeyedhobbit

****ty. So there is no way I could connect an iPod to my laptop? I mean, USB 1.0 would be horrendously slow, not?- oneeyedhobbit

Firewire for iPod?
So I mentioned a way back that I was planning on purchasing an iPod, and was now going to bring that goal to fruition. However, I'm unclear--are the 5G (particularly the "old" 60GB 5G iPods) compatible with Firewire? My laptop doesn't have USB 2.0, but it does have a firewire port.- oneeyedhobbit

Portable Cans, Final Go--K81 v. PX100
Yeah, I find the assesment quite helpful. Can you be a bit more specific on the sound? Name some pros and cons, describe whats right and not so right in the sound? Do you know of any cans they compare to (I'd still love if you had heard the PX100 or Portapros)?- oneeyedhobbit

Portable Cans, Final Go--K81 v. PX100
Well, I get paid on Friday and will (depending on overall finances) be looking to order an iPod and the headphones about then. Thanks for the heads-up, I saw the armor all bit too. I'll look into it especially if I decide the cans are suitable for running. What do you think of them so far...- oneeyedhobbit

help i dont know anything
If you're just listening to mp3s on your computer, then a really great headphone/amp combo might be overkill. A lot of people at hydrogen audio will tell you that good mp3s can be transparent and undiscernable from the cd quality file in a blind test, but this is with pretty meager headphones...- oneeyedhobbit

Let me know how the exercise goes Bob. Also, does anyone think that the Sennheiser HD 212/435 are worth adding to my list of contendors? They're priced about the same as the K81 DJ.- oneeyedhobbit

iGrado: design analysis from an engineering student
While I appreciate Grado's efforts a ton, I think they came up short--mostly in styling and realizing what "mainstream" consumers will want. I think a big issue will be the open design. Even if they manage to get the iGrado's in the iPod store, the average schmuck will be sold on Bose cans...- oneeyedhobbit

Portable Cans, Final Go--K81 v. PX100
I don't know what you guys are doing when you listen to your tunes, but I've never been "sweating out" any of my old closed cans. The concern with running might be legit, however. I don't know, if its really bad I guess I'll have to get some KSC-75s or something. Bob, I don't know where you...- oneeyedhobbit

I need the best closed headphones I can get under $200.
The AKG 271 don't really shine without an amp, so if you're set on $200 I'd go for the A900s. The W1000/amp will be better sound quality than either, but your source is a joke and not at all up to par with this kind of system downstream. Don't make that investment unless you're prepared to go...- oneeyedhobbit

Portable Cans, Final Go--K81 v. PX100
Sorry that I've created so many nearly redundant posts in the last few days. Call me anal, I guess. Long story short: need portable headphones. Will be used at work in a university library, so must be closed/leak very little. Also used on CTA (buses and trains), walking around, and potentially...- oneeyedhobbit

Advice Needed for Portable Cans for an iPod
If I'm looking at the PX 200, I may as well do the K 26p (it seems each has an equally bad rep as of now). As for the PXC 300...never been a fan of cheaper canal phones. Plus, I'd like to preserve some hearing in case...oh, I don't know, my BOSS should need to speak to me. This (and microphonics...- oneeyedhobbit

Free PX100's!
If someone finds out if/how/how much? for a US subscriber, I'm game. I'd be interested in the magazine, and I've been looking for portable cans, so the fact that I get to try the PX 100 on the cheap would be fantastic.- oneeyedhobbit

Advice Needed for Portable Cans for an iPod
Also, if this helps determine noise leaking: I borrowed a friends iPod today and listened around 50%, give or take 15% (most often take, I really only capped out at 55-60%). Would the PX100/Portapro's leak too much at this volume? Bear in mind this is a University library most often frequented...- oneeyedhobbit
