anyone watch inception? what was the player?

Quote: A little obsessive perhaps, but I wouldn't say abnormal. Definitely more normal than collecting, say, lunch boxes or toasters. i actually had a boss once who collected TOASTERS. I asked her about it once, and she launched into a misty-eyed speech about the favorites in her...

anyone watch inception? what was the player?

Quote: No weirder than bird watching or trainspotting. We are obsessed around here, and proud of it. The phrase "some portable player" suggests that you don't share that obsession, which is fine, but you are likely to make few friends on this forum by ridiculing the central topic of...

    Sony has discontinued the SRF-59?

Well, in an uncharacteristically resolute move, I went to B&H earlier this week and bought an SRF-59. I bought three of them actually. At $11.89 each, they seemed like a surreal bargain. So now I have one that will hopefully last a couple of years or more, and two others chilling in my closet...

    R.I.P. Dr. Fritz Sennheiser

It's sad to hear of the loss of such a pioneer in his field. I remember hearing my cousin's Senns sometime around '71 or '72. He had a pair of the very early open cans, with the wide pads. It was, to say the least, an ear-opening experience for an eleven-or-twelve-year-old kid.   Mr...

Your ideal quick and easy breakfast of choice

Quote: Thanks. This is particularly timely for me, since NYC has just lifted its ban on beekeeping. Which should mean a lot more local honey available in the greenmarkets. I'll definitely give this a try.   Quote:   Quote:   Quote: I think what we...

Similar sounding to Rodrigo Y Gabriella

Quote: I honestly didn't know their discography as well as I should have. I have Rodrigo y Gabriela  and I have 11:11, but I didn't realize they had other records out!! I will track down their other stuff, I promise!

Why I Hate 3-D (and You Should Too)

My concern is that the studios will concentrate on the sizzle (3D) and forget completely about the steak. I've seen Avatar twice, both times in 3D. While the visual effects were at first stunning, the "wow" factor wore off pretty quickly. I was looking at my watch after about 20 minutes.  ...

Similar sounding to Rodrigo Y Gabriella

I've got both of their albums. They are absolutely amazing. They make the acoustic guitar do things I didn't think it could do, and the hand percussion on the guitars adds a mesmerising element to their sound. The did an NPR Tiny Desk Concert a while ago.

Quote: Does that provide some resistance to hay fever? I'm allergic to pretty much everything (grass, dust, mould, pet dander, pollen.) But my impression is that the pollen is the culprit during the hay fever months. Any relief from the sneezing, burning eyes, etc would be great...

Your ideal quick and easy breakfast of choice

Quote: I'll have to try that; it sounds good. I like whole milk yogurt in a bowl, with diced/sliced apple/banana/pear or some combination of the three. Ready in approx three minutes. If I'm not literally running out of the apt, I'll brew a cup of plain tea to wash it down with (generally...

    Ronnie James Dio 1942 - 2010 R.I.P.

Quote: That's the exact track I thought of when i heard of his death. I'm not a huge metal fan (though certain artists are fundamental to me,) so I really didn't keep close track of his career. I knew the rough outlines, of course: Sabbath, Blackmore, devil horns, etc. But I had no idea...

Ear hair removal for improved sound quality

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. My father, who is 86, has profound hearing loss and wears hearing aids in both ears. He also has a lot of hair in his ears, and clipping it makes a pronounced difference in the performance of his hearing aids. It can mean the difference between...
