    Grado PS1000 break in?

100 + hours and they do indeed benefit from some time. The bottom end has tightened up a bit, for lack of a better term.    Very enjoyable headphones.

    PS1000 Impressions Thread

As I'm approaching 90 hours on them, I'm becoming more convinced that I have no real need for a headphone amp. Except maybe to satisfy my curiousity about them.  What was already a nice bottom end, has "opened" up and become even more distinct.  I've been listening to just about every music...

    PS1000 Impressions Thread

I am listening to my PS1000's through my restored 70's monster receiver, a Sansui 9090DB.  Sounds great.   Would I have anything to gain by purchasing a headphone amp?

    Grado PS1000 break in?

I don't see how they could sound much better, but I'm no expert.  They will be broken in soon, regardless.  :)

    PS1000 Impressions Thread

Quote: A major upgrade from My Ultrasone HFI 780's and Sennheiser 600's.  They make those sound pretty pale in comparison.   To use the cliche'd phrase, I'm hearing things in my music that I've not heard before.  My Ultrasones seem cramped and muddy in comparison, and the 600's sound...

    PS1000 Impressions Thread

Got my PS1000's today. I am very impressed, to say the least.  I have a whole new music collection to listen to now.

    Grado PS1000 break in?

My Christmas present to myself arrives tomorrow, a set of Grado PS1000's.   Will they require a "break in" period?   Will they sound different after being broken in?   I have read a little on break in, but I still wonder exactly what happens.   Thanks!

    Sansui 9090DB and headphones

I'm wondering if getting a headphone amp would be any big upgrade over using my 70's vintage monster Sansui 9090DB would be any large improvement. For my ears, the 9090DB sounds really sweet with my Ultrasone 780's.  I'm just wondering what all the hoopla over headphone amps is about.   ...

Ultrasone HFi 780 vs. Pro 900

I listen to just about all genres except hip hop, and my sources are an iPad, vinyl, and a CD player, all piped through the Sansui.  I favor metal, electronica, prog, and late 60's/early 70's rock.   I guess there is no real answer to a lot of "what sounds best" type questions. I'm satisfied...

Ultrasone HFi 780 vs. Pro 900

Getting a little off topic, but would a headphone amp be a large improvement over using my mid 70's Sansui 9090DB monster receiver?  I love the old time, analog sound I get. Especially with vinyl.   I've been really happy with the 780's. Just looking for something new.

Ultrasone HFi 780 vs. Pro 900

Thanks for the replies.   I'm just wondering if its a big enough "jump" to even bother with. Or if I should just take the big leap and get something like Edition 8's or even switch brands to something like Beyerdynamic Tesla T1 ?   BTW, I listen through my fully restored Sansui 9090DB...

Ultrasone HFi 780 vs. Pro 900

I've been using HFi 780's for a couple years now, and like them a lot. I've got the itch to try something a little pricier.  Can anyone tell me if going to the Pro 900's is worth it?  How do they compare soundwise?    Thanks in advance.
