The Pro 82 are worth it for the comfort alone. No other full-size headphone comes close for me, especially with my head back on my pillow. They sound good and the comfort level makes them sound even better.

Put up some acoustic paneling around your computer space.  You'll see monumental gains in sound quality compared to a component upgrade.  After that I'd look into a DAC and passive attenuator for your monitors.

I always go to my D2000's for any electronica genre.  Stronger bass response and more lively than anything Sennheiser I own.

Sounds like a Prelude or Forte is what you want.

You'll get way better sound out of the analogue-outs on a quality sound-card.  The DAC inside the Z5500 is poop.

Any experience with the 1704 DAC, project?  It's supposed to be Yulong's best.
