    I love my re-padded MDR-7506's!! <3 DT250 pads

I'm really glad I did this to mine as well. To be honest I don't like the feel of the velour on my coarse hair, and if you have any cats the velour will collect cat fur, which I suppose takes care of my first problem. However, I love the sound signature after the change. It closes the headphones...

STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOU CAN'T TELL 192AAC VS LOSSLESS ILL PROVE IT

So i just listened to a lossless vinyl high quality (24-bit/96khz) rip of one of my favorite albums that I've heard 100s of times, the difference is amazing. I can hear the room acoustics that they recorded in. I can tell that the Bass was externally mic'd because of this, I can hear the singer...

STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOU CAN'T TELL 192AAC VS LOSSLESS ILL PROVE IT

A better idea is to just rip the stuff to lossless that you know won't survive lossy encoding without problems. Saying to rip everything to lossless might include audiobooks... I for one am not going to rip my audiobooks to lossless, it's pointless. Same with most CD sourced electronic...

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=39831 Check this thread at hydrogenaudio, looks like someone already has a script written to use an iPod as the testing source.

STOP TELLING PEOPLE YOU CAN'T TELL 192AAC VS LOSSLESS ILL PROVE IT

... Maybe I shouldn't mention this before people start but the source has a lot to do with how transparent the encodes will be. There are some types of sounds that mp3 will choke on no matter the bitrate, and I don't know how good AAC will do. For almost all modern recorded music... you won't...

    Comfortable, Closed cans under $100?

Sony MDR v6 + Beyer Velour pads. (The pads are key as they help with isolation and bass response).

    E2c mod... 56K warning

Alright, I need to comment on this mod. I've been a little frustrated with the E2c as of late. My other set of decent headphones are some 10 year old sony mdr-v6 headphones which have a completely opposite sound to the e2c. They sound airy and open, although I use bass boost on my mp3gained...

Help me decide how to spend my budget

I know the E2s are very colored as far as sound is concerned. Good low end extension but it rolls off all the highs. Perfect for anything with horns (jazz) but might not be your cup of tea.

    Unsure about my Shure IEMs

My E2c opened up with a bit of burn in. I listen to them iPod eq'd (rock) (which meant I had to mp3gain my entire collection) and amped though. I noticed a lack of bass, but at the same time I'm a bass head. 2 12s in the car, Nice Velo in the home theater. Part of it was being used to too much...

Why the majority of your CDs sound horrible.

I recently mp3gained (reduced obviously) my entire collection. The record was ministry at 103.4 db. Not that anyone would do critical listening of ministry but well.
