I’m listening to my K1000 with a Stefan AudioArt balanced 4 pin XLR cable through a Shanling EM7 Streaming Music Centre, apparently designed by Shanling partly with the K1000 in mind. The trick with the EM7 is to stream to it. I’m using a Melco N1ZS Ex digital music library.

Sorry to hear about the problems you had with your EM7. If you’re not using it, you should sell it while you still can. I bought mine used and you are probably right about what you’d get for it.

I can forgive the EM7’s minor glitches because streaming pop, EDM, and hip hop from a Melco N1ZS through the EM7 to Empire Ears Legend Evo IEMs with a Liquid Links Venom cable is thunderous and superb. Definitely, synergy dependent though, Mest Indigos sound better on the FiiO M17 dap.

Upgraded to 1.60. Much nicer search interface for playing music locally. Listening to Run The Jewels on the EM7 with Unique Melody Mest Indigo. Streaming from a Melco N1ZS. Less bright and brittle than playing from an SD card.
