Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)

V281 is a very sensitive amp. Its more or less relevant to the cables and headphone you used to pair with. I did a lot of experiment and concluded this in my mind.    Also some of the people tried the LG and V281 and preferred the V281, not surprising as headfi can never judge by price tag. LG...

Moon Nēo 430HA Reference Headphone Amplifier

HAHAHAHA   Very honest opinion DK. I actually had the exact same struggling experience like you with my V281 and LCD4. I keep moving forward and back in between high and normal gain. In the end I chose high gain (+12db) on my V281 with the LCD4. Found it to be more punch, more dynamic and...

    Audeze LCD-4

Personally i dont found the V281 lacking details at all. The treble of V281 is a bit darker than the Taurus. So it might give u a feeling that you are missing something. The treble is still there, but not roll off. :) The taurus is a very nice amp. I found the taurus pairs well with many dark...

I just called Audeze and talked to one of their customer assistant regarding the blue balance cable, they allow me to have the blue balance cable for no charge and willing to send to my Australia address. I just have to send back the blue SE cable later. Awesome customer service Audeze!! Thumbs up

Very nice review man. And answred most of my questions, as I'm looking forward to get a HD800S to be the only 2 headphones to keep with the LCD4.    PS: noticed you are using the black stock cable for LCD4, I would say you can expect a big improvement if you replace the stock cable to some...

Violectric HPA V281 - Vorsprung durch Balanced (September 2023 Update: Limited Reissue Edition up for preorder!)

No. Balance line out is not balance headphone out. The V281 is built in 4 amp system with 2 amps (V220 amp board) for each chanel. Which make it become true balanced headphone output. The V220 only has 2 amps inside, 1 for each chanel for SE headphone output. Do your homework 1st before you...

Did youtry the balance out of V281? In my opinion the V281's single end out tend to be a bit dark (warm sounding), but the balance out is very neutral and not dark at all.

    Audeze LCD-4

I curious about the sound comparism in between 200 and 100ohm LCD4... Is the new version really have that 2D feeling and sound not better than the 100ohm version? I haven't heard the old version yet so no idea what is the 3D holographic sound signature you guys describing.... :( Im currently...

    Audeze LCD-4

Update 2: I changed the V281 gain setting from +12db back to 0db. The high gain did gave me some WOW factor but after long term listening i found the sound is a bit harsh and too strong on bass. Sometimes the instructmental sounds too loud to my ear.   The original gain setting at 0db sounds...
