Hiby FC6 - another R-2R USB dongle
1. To my preference and picking sides: I prefer R2R to Delta-Sigma, don't tell me what I prefer. But this isn't a football game it's not about picking a team to cheer for. There are good and bad DACs from both types and the good ones are indistinguishable in blind abx testing. 2. To the...- Yanec

You got all of that wrong. You should learn before explaining but, again, it's off topic. Please let's keep the thread clean and on point.- Yanec

Hiby FC6 - another R-2R USB dongle
My explanation above is for those who want to learn something and explore the reality why R2R actually sound pleasant. No need to reply to me with opposite claims. We can agree to disagree. Honestly, most of your claims are very far from the truth but I really don't insist for you to agree...- Yanec

Hiby FC6 - another R-2R USB dongle
A explanation what R2R DACs are (euphonic, very pleasant and fun sounding) and what they aren't (accurate, high resolution, transparent). R2R DACs are not transparent, they are flawed and that's why very often they sound better than the transparent delta-sigma DACs, not because they are better...- Yanec

"Hear pure music like cd with vinyl quality" - brain crash... at least it has consistency: none of the single statements and the total of them makes sense. Sorry, no intent to challenge you though - I think I understand what you potentially mean and what "reviewers" lead to such choice of words...- Yanec

Thanks! That's good news for those like me who love pure r2r sound with all their measurement "flaws" making the sound more tasty. And it is great to have it in the OS mode given that in R2R DACs the accuracy at zero-crossings can be particularly challenging. This option is a great idea...- Yanec

Exactly. Also, I asked several times without reply @Joe Bloggs if turning "HDR" On or Off actually works in NOS mode...- Yanec

Tell that to my wife, she uses it in NOS mode with her preferred filter!- Yanec

Portable R2R options (dongles and DAPs)
The differences are beyond the theoretical principles how a dac works, they are in the actual implementation. For r2r the level of tolerance and precision needed in matching each resistor pair is hardly ever met in reality. This is what gives them their often poor measurements and their...- Yanec

Just a note, filters don't work in NOS mode, Darwin ultra incl. Although my wife believes she hears a difference between filters in NOS mode...- Yanec

Yes, good catch, will add it once released, thought it's not very portable indeed. Thanks!- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
I believe all the exchange above should be deleted if possible - it doesn't add any value here. In my 1st message I provided technical details why the RU7 isn't R2R. To avoid potential confusion caused by Srboljub's video review. That might be the only message worth leaving.- Yanec

Cayin RU7: 1-Bit Resistor Network Dongle DAC /Amp
The point was stated clearly: you cannot assemble a r2r ladder at home that operates transparently - at least 0.01% in actual operations needed for 16bit audio. As I said it is not the same as buying online a resistor. Test measurements of a device you did build at home are the only thing that...- Yanec
