Amp/dac for long flights
so to note, a friend with a newer Galaxy with USB-c wanted to try my Dragonfly Red. He used the USB-A + USB-c -> USB-c adapter from my macbook pro. It worked perfectly and you can get a clone of the apple version from Monoprice or startech for less then $20 USD.- xhypno402

Amp/dac for long flights
Ah, an old post necro'ed. I ended up going with a Dragonfly Red and a split media adapter for my Iphone. It provides a USB type A port along with a Lightening port and a male lightening adapter. It allowed me to connect the dragonfly to my phone and the phone to a wall wort plugged into the...- xhypno402

Amp/dac for long flights
So after about 24-26 hours burn in, the dragonfly red sounds great with hifi files from tidal using my older er4s. I decided to add a new er4pt as I love the er4's and you can never have enough pairs when you travel a lot.- xhypno402

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
How long ago did you buy it? I emailed Ety and their customer service rep got back to me stating that they added the P -> S cord to their boxes starting in May of 2014 and that all inventory currently for sale on Amazon by their distributors have them inside the box even though it is not...- xhypno402

If you still love Etymotic ER4, this is the thread for you...
So I am a bit confused by the Etymotic website. The newest ER4-PT says it comes with the resistor adapter to turn them into 100ohm matching the ER4S. I have an almost 10 year old pair of ER4S and decided to buy a new pair as mine are showing their age. My confusion is the Etymotic site says...- xhypno402

Ty for the suggestions (plane outlets are 2 prong AC not USB). I wouldn't plug my device into a public USB port anyways. Lol- xhypno402

The massdrop warranties are through squaretrade and with this device level would cover replacement. I have dealt with them a lot and don't mind the company. And based on warranty reviews I wouldn't want the chord warranty as it covers parts and partial labor with no shipping and from the Hugo I...- xhypno402

Amp/dac for long flights
IEMs are all I use while flying, but the er-4s that I currently use sound flat and held back on even the iPhone 6s+ with out an amp. That is why my jds cmoy went on all long trips with me. But alas it has died and I want to go dac also instead of just amp.- xhypno402

Most are 5-10w on the dc side. A normal 5w 2a iPad charger uses 60w on the AC side. The 13inch MacBook Pro and air charger is 65w on the AC side while the 15inch MacBook Pro charger is 95w on the AC side.- xhypno402

Amp/dac for long flights
So looking at it more the dragonfly red is rated max at 24 mah per hour which is about a 2% draw more then just the phone. Not bad, but better when you realize you will be driving low impedance IEMs for a long haul. But what is even better is with the new iPad Pro 9.7 inch Apple released a USB...- xhypno402

I have a 25k mah bank and the planes have a 75w plug (don't try to charge a 15" MacBook Pro from one). But with the dragonfly plugged in, you can't plug the phone in to charge it from all of the reviews I have seen.- xhypno402

Is it that much better then other things on the market? I want to make sure that performance to value is there before dropping a chunk of change on it.- xhypno402
