I hope I will like it too of course! For starters, it's definitely nice to look at!    If my Beyers would be 600 Ohms I would surely put the gain on x10 straight away. But does the 250 Ohm version also count as high?

They work well even without an amp!

I own a pair and they don't have much bass response at all to be quite honest, but I don't find anything in their sound to be sharp on the ears in any way. The bass needs some lift to make them really enjoyable however.

Personally I could not hear any difference whatsoever between the 250 and 600 ohm versions, so I got the 250 version because the 600 was too difficult for my regular amp. Now I run them with an X-Can V3 and they sound awesome! The 32 ohm version however sounds quite a lot less tight and clean...

I have the premium 250 ohms, and I thought the highs was a little bit (too) much in the beginning but after a while I noticed I never thought about it anymore. I own M50's and I do have to agree, I like their sound but they are not that comfortable for prolonged use and they get very warm quickly! Beyers and their velour pads are quite comfortable and keeps cool. Haven't tried the pro variants though... they are said to have more clamping force.

I listen to a lot of metal, especially thrash, and I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT-990's. They work well with metal, especially if the production is good. I auditioned K701's together with the Beyers before buying and they do NOT fit metal at all, Metallica did hurt my ears!

I am anti-eq in every case but one. My Audio Technica ATH-AD700's can't really be listened to without it...
