Fostex 610 vs Fostex X00
I'd love to try and describe the 610 more, but its been years since I heard them and everything else at CanJam that year. CanJam was an awesome experience, but when you listen to so many headphones in a day its hard to remember too much detail about individual models. The main thing I took away...- wdetterman

Fostex 610 vs Fostex X00
Honestly I'm curious about that too. You're right, direct comparisons between the X00's and the 610 (and even the 900) are weirdly hard to find. I'd try to elaborate more about my impression of the 610 and the mahogany from CanJam, but it's been years and I don't trust my memory enough to say...- wdetterman

Fostex 610 vs Fostex X00
I just bought a TR-X00 last month and had that same question myself. From what I can tell, they're really similar. Pretty much identical build and driver technologies. The X00 is of course the Drop/Massdrop version of the Fostex TH series built by Drop at a cheaper price for a limited time. I...- wdetterman

Upgrading my DT990s
It's been a while since I had the opportunity to try the DT 1990 Pro, but as the owner of a Fulla I think that would be your best option for a DAC/Amp. The Fulla sounds amazing for the size and price. And now that the Fulla 3 has a mic input, I don't know of any other device that fits your...- wdetterman

Headphone suggestions
I have actually. After taking out the foam tape they still had a lot of low end bass, it just lost some of the mid range bass. The bass almost sounds like its not as precise or controlled as it used to be. They sounded a little bit more open too. I haven't decided if I prefer the sound before...- wdetterman

Headphone suggestions
I've had my HD558 for a couple of years now, and I think it sounds good and it would be great for gaming. It has a large sound stage, and I agree that it is a great option for your price range. I find that they have a lot of bass though, almost too much in my opinion. But when gaming, it can be...- wdetterman

Full Size Over Ear Headphone Recommendations
Well, I would agree that the K7XX sounds brighter than the HD600 does, but the HD600's treble seemed a little bit harsh for me. I like the warmer sound signature personally. Both are great headphones, and they deliver the highs in different ways. Now that I think about it, the Monoprice...- wdetterman

Full Size Over Ear Headphone Recommendations
The HD650 is a newer, revised version of the HD600. In general, HD650 is supposed to have a warmer tone and a bit more bass than the HD600. I used to have an HD600, and I don't know if I would recommend it if you are sensitive to treble. For me, the highs on the HD600 were a bit loud, but...- wdetterman

Looking for quality headphones that won't break the bank. Personal use
The DT770 and the M50x are the only closed headphones I've listened to that match your criteria. I agree that the M50x can have a sharp sound and not enough bass. Maybe you could find a used DT770 for cheaper if you are willing to consider that; a friend of mine bought his used and he's happy...- wdetterman

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
Have you checked out the HiFiMAN HE-350 that is on massdrop.com right now? I've been eying those myself, and they might be worth considering.- wdetterman

Looking for quality headphones that won't break the bank. Personal use
If you want something that's closed and slightly bass heavy, I would check out the Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro. The pads on these are really comfortable, and of the closed headphones that I have heard, these are some of my favorites. I've heard the 80 ohm version, which might need an amp to maximize...- wdetterman

A little about the Campfire Audio Jupiter
I'm actually in the same boat; I just got my Jupiters, and am also considering a DAP. I've found that the hiss is extremely noticeable on the Jupiter when plugged into my phone or my Schiit Fulla 2, and the Jupiters need very little if any amplification. Though a new one would be a bit...- wdetterman

Thanks! Hopefully you get the opportunity to listen to them and try out different filter combinations. These have to be one of my favorite IEMs.- wdetterman

LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread
So my A4's included cable is starting to fall apart, and I am considering replacing/upgrading the cable. Any suggestions? Are there any cables that work particularly well on the A4? Thanks- wdetterman

CanJam SoCal 2017 Impressions Thread!
I saw that promotion! It had to be one of the best deals at CanJam. The Kaiser Encore and the Katana both sounded awesome, and my friend bought a pair under the promotion.- wdetterman
