Is audioengine a5 the best stereo computer speaker in the world?
Locate your nearest pro audio shop (the ones that sell studio equipment) and pick a pair of powered monitors there. I have been using the decidedly Mid-Fi Alesis M1 Active Mk2 monitors for about 6 years now and they are supremely enjoyable. Adam audio or even Mackie would be even better...- vmajor

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
Regarding "lower quality components" I'm with King Wa. I have not heard of "SMD = low quality" either. The rest of the components seem unchanged and you gain the filter control on the front panel. The NFB-3.1 will be my third DAC. The first was the original head-fi favourite the Zhaolu D2...- vmajor

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
Was posted by "Cya|\| " on the previous page. So we are just looking either for more information about that statement from Cya|\| himself, or from anyone else. In the meantime I ordered my NFB-3.1 (and RCA interconnects), so you can say that I am not all that anxious :-) V.- vmajor

Audio-GD NFB-2 & NFB-3 Delivery & Impression Thread
That statement about "lower quality components" is confusing to me too. I am about to purchase the NFB-3.1 and would like some more opinions on this matter. Which components are lower quality, and in what way are they of lower quality? V.- vmajor

Anyone familiar with Derek Shek Dacs?
I have the 1543 version plugged into my sound card and then into my Alesis studio monitors and it works well. Very musical and it does not pop, click or otherwise misbehave (unlike my Zhaolu D2 which is incapable of being fed 44.1 kHZ signal from my sound card without sounding like it is...- vmajor

The sound of digital cables ..?
Actually, if you do some searching, you will find that there were plenty of scientific method type experiments conducted trying to confirm the existence of these observations... If my earlier rant was hard to understand, I do apologise, but I will not be rewriting it for easier comprehension...- vmajor

Digital i/o switchbox?
There are cheap toslink ones on eBay. They may work, and in any case as long as the optical switching is good enough not to cause attenuation of brightness to an extent that renders the signal too faint, there should be (by laws of physics) no effect on the sound. I use a simple RCA + video...- vmajor

DAC noob, coax digital -VS- Fiberoptic ??
Oh, and to further horrify everyone that can hear the difference between coaxial cables, and those who worry about impedance matching of S/PDIF coaxial connections, I run my digital sources through a 4 input 1 output RCA selector box So I have a MOD (movies on demand) box, Digital TV box...- vmajor

DAC noob, coax digital -VS- Fiberoptic ??
OK, so coaxial connection can cause jitter... and optical suffers from cheap send/receive parts. Well, I can "easily" tell a difference between DACs and OPAs and other somewhat esoteric things. Cables, analogue or digital were always beyond me - even though I still spend time and money on...- vmajor

DAC noob, coax digital -VS- Fiberoptic ??
Noob-ish question from me. What type of data corruption can a digital cable of either persuasion (electrical or optical) cause? Wouldn't any data corruption or loss be clearly audible - pops, clicks, loss of connection? What degree of data loss is inaudible? cf. Analogue connections they...- vmajor

Zhaolu Placement
Timing and context, HumanMedia. This entire thread unfailry deals with the simple original question. It just happened that there were several other posts on Head-Fi dealing with the similar issue at the same time. As to ridicule, well yes, beliefs and practices devoid of any reason are...- vmajor
