Thanks for the Verizon tip.  Never would have occurred to me, but I actually saved a few bucks going through them.  It was 15,700 points to get 31% off of $500, so brand new HD 650s for $342.95 + tax.  

First registered in 2013, but finally started posting today.  I've had a basic Fiio E06 and ATH-M50's for a couple of years.  Looking to make a few changes in the coming weeks...maybe some open backed phones (HD 650 currently leading the pack).  Also trying to find the best amp/dac situation...

I think he was considering the open back EL8's, not the closed.  I'm sorry to bump a slightly old thread, but this conversation is EERILY similar to my current thought process.    I'm upgrading from the ATH-M50s.  I'm looking for used deals on nicer stuff.  Right now I'm liking a couple of HD...
