Vegan friendly headphone list
FWIW with the HEDDPhone 2, the original copy said "high-quality, vegan-friendly materials made in Germany" and then they changed it, so I asked if it was a materials change or a copy change and here's what they said: "Yes all the materials are still vegan we just changed the text because our...- twofires

Definitely this. I can understand hesitance with 3.5 as there are different wiring schemes out there (Hifiman vs Audio Technica for example) and someone is bound to use the wrong cable, but I think something non-proprietary should be considered.- twofires

Just want to add, I would personally prefer it if you kept the pad and headband material synthetic. They work fine, a lot of people prefer them for their breathability, a lot of people aren't into leather for ethical reasons, and personally I don't find much validity in the 'it should have...- twofires

Nice. What speakers are those? And what are you powering with? I was able to snag some BS HD650 locally (baffle memes aren't quite so full on here) but haven't given it a fair shake yet. Ha, I remember reading about the Ho Lee mods. Sounds wild. Did you see they discontinued the Crackatwoa? I...- twofires

Yeah, not bad. Just tinkering with DIY here and there (I bought a Bottlehead S.E.X. kit I've gotta build at some point). Bought some old Fostex X00 Mahogany second hand and finally found a headphone I like. Turns out I was looking for a bump in the sub bass. 😂 I wish Fostex still made them. The...- twofires

Dang - I was very, very close to going for the LCD-XC 2020 carbon revision for my next set of cans. It really does seem weird that they used to have vegan pads, and now they don't have a vegan option at all. Oh well. Still hanging out to hear the Audio-Technica ATH-AWAS, which I believe are...- twofires

I can see the TOTL Final Audio is a custom order - does anyone know about Final's cheaper offerings? It says the pads are synthetic on the Sonorous line, but no info on the headband.- twofires

This is a very old (and weak) argument that has been levelled (in bad faith) at ethical stances on anything, for as long as I can remember. You just redefine the parameters of that stance to be absurdly strict. Anyone who meets that standard is loopy, anyone who doesn't is a hypocrite, and...- twofires

Audio-Technica ATH-AWAS Announcement Thread
I'm looking forward to hearing these. I'm wanting to treat myself to a significant upgrade from my A700X cans, and these look to be just the thing. No more rubber bands mods! Personally I like that AT doesn't automatically whack leather on everything high end, as it leaves the option open to...- twofires

Signed up at least partially to say thanks for this list - definitely helpful. As the thread has been going for some time, might be worth adding a "last verified" to each entry? Just a thought.- twofires
