PPA v2 construction discussion
I got convinced in building the real PPAv2 instead of a modification, but before proceeding I would like to ask one question about the design. Why id there three TLEs driving the ground? As no component is perfect and the rail isolation JFETs have large manufacturing spreads the TLEs will...- tvkalvas

Sourcing parts in Europe
Oh... nice to hear that also Mouser sends to Europe. I've noticed that they are cheaper. And a more complete set of parts for PPA v2 can be bought from there compared to Digi-Key. I have to try them out... maybe this time Mouser could be the one. And to tharenth and other finns: I buy mostly...- tvkalvas

Sourcing parts in Europe
Hello! There has been some talk here and there about the problem of sourcing parts in Europe, but there is not a real thread/discussion about different solutions to this problem. I think sharing ideas would benefit everyone. I live in Finland and here we mainly have small local stores...- tvkalvas

Why virtual grounds?
Ok guys... you got me convinced. I will go for the real PPA v2 then, not a two channel modification of it. Also it is easier for me because I can use the pcb from Tangent's shop and I don't have to mess with acids. Then I have to attack the next problem... sourcing all the parts. But that...- tvkalvas

Why virtual grounds?
I mean that in classical power and pre amplifier designs there is only one ground. This ground is halfway between positive and negative rails (+15V and -15V in typical preamps) and both input and output negative terminals/return currents are connected to this ground. If a headphone amplifier was...- tvkalvas

Why virtual grounds?
Hi! I have been following the headphone diy community for a while and I can't find out why so many headphone amplifiers are using a virtual ground instead of real dual regulated power supply with a real ground? For PPA for example a large fraction of costs could be cut by having only two...- tvkalvas

PPA v2 construction discussion
Hi! I have some experience in DIY electronics, but not in amplifiers. I'm interested in building a headphone amplifier for my AKG K601's. I'm aiming for a PPAv2 with some modifications (no virtual ground, but a real one). So far I have built one channel of the PPAv2 on a solderless...- tvkalvas
