ES-R10 closed back dynamic headphone Sony R10 Replica Discussion/Impressions

It's fair to say that Mitch's measurements were on headphones with the loosest screws that could still have cups attached. I should message him about it.

Well I feel sheepish. You're so right. Those screws were *barely* holding the cups in place, and after tightening them to 2 finger snug - the tonality has drastically changed. These are lovely and pleasant now. Gone is the screech at the top end, and in its stead a thumper lower register. Et...

ES-R10 closed back dynamic headphone Sony R10 Replica Discussion/Impressions

Noob question here even after looking about in this thread: Do I have to ruin the adhesive that appears to hold the pad in place in order to get at these screws?

Well it sounds like I've done an insufficient amount of peeking under the pads. Thanks for the tip and I'll get right to that and report back!

Maybe? That'd be one heckuva variance though.

Yeah, I don't know. I wonder if I'm just a bit sensitive in the upper registers? I've got some pretty big ears that probably add a bit of gain in that area. 90% of Grados are also a no go for me for the same reason.

    Nitsch DSHA-3FN / ECP DSHA-3F Impressions

It wasn't a big thing, really. It's just that I'm using a particularly chonky 4pinXLR->4.4 adapter that needs a little coaxing. Using standard neutrik style XLR ends go in and out more smoothly.

    Nitsch DSHA-3FN / ECP DSHA-3F Impressions

I'm loving this thing so far. Easily the most detailed SS headphone amp I've heard by a country mile. Now, have I heard the HM-1 or Mass Kobo 465? Nope, sadly. Runs all my cans just fine, but they're all 300ohm dynamics, or easily driven planars. I've pre-ordered the HEDDphone TWO and we'll see...

If you have Roon as your music player, Bob's your uncle. But, otherwise yeah, you'd need support for it in whatever you're using - or a separate app.

I'll certainly report back what I find putting the convolution filter into Roon, but I'm also probably not the most unbiased before/after subject. I freely confess that the upper mid/lower treble peaks of the ES-R10 made them unlistenable for me, so their journey to Mitch was almost purely...

Pretty sure he just puts everything to "neutral", rather than trying to make cans sound like other cans? And for what it's worth, Mitch mentions that the ES-R10 take EQ quite well (as most biodyna drivers seem to)

Long time lurker, first time poster. Thought I'd finally contribute after sending my ES-R10's over to Mitch at AccurateSound.ca to make convolution filters. I don't have the headphones back yet (still in Canada); so I can't offer any impressions, sadly. But, if the filters are as successful as...
