Anyone else experienced a noisy iPhone 6s headphone output when connected to a high impedance input? I recorded a sample and cranked up the gain to make it easier to hear. In actual practice it's fairly quiet, but definitely audible...

I'm going to bump this one. I have the same need.   Ideally, I'd love to have a nice USB DAC to go with it that has an iPhone style TRRS headphone jack capable of handling mic and remote inputs. I don't think one exists unfortunately.

I bought 2 Chinese replacement cables - one with mic/remote and one without. Both work great. The non-mic'd cable I sleeved and re-terminated for my daughter, she's getting M40xs for Christmas.

Yep, The wire was enameled which was kind of a pain, but a good soak in some lacquer thinner and I got it to take solder.

I didn't think the iPhone would support a "SPIDF Interface" (as Windows calls it) driver wise. Hoping someone else can confirm before I drop $30 on the "Camera" host dongle.
