How to know if my setup is good (HD800S)?

For sure, the only way to see how well a particular system performs is to compare it with a better system. I have used the iFi Micro BL with the HD800S for quite a while and always find the system lacking something. Not to mention about the loudness since the iFi drives the HD800S just fine. The...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

How is Chord HMS + TT2 compared to Chord DAVE? Their prices are roughly similar and I heard that Chord DAVE is still much better than the mentioned combo.

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

I'm not really sure which is the problem. Changing the sample rate in Windows Settings to 192kHz and the latency to minimum in HDV820's Control Panel seems to clear things quite a bit, however it makes the bass very thin compared to before. From my hearing I suggest that this is probably how the...

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

This is largely based on personal taste I think. However, I could confirm that HDV820 sounds much better than iFi iDSD Micro BL. The iFi seems to have a 'ceiling' that the sound can't pass. HDV820 releases it to a whole another level. Still if I could compare with other DAC/Amp at similar price...

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

Probably 40-50 hours maybe. I'm not sure because listening to instrumental music brings great details on mid and treble. It only exhibits such behaviour with music with pronounced bass. I can still clearly hear the mid and treble, it's just that the bass kinda engulfs them.

Sennheiser Q&A: HDV 820 Digital Amplifier

Hi, my HDV820 with HD800S sounds a bit weird as the bass seems very controlled and precise, however the mid is kinda overwhelmed by the bass, while treble still has some spikes here and there. I'm using all factory-enable accessories such as power cord and cables, with the exception of the USB...

What is more "musical" than HD800S + HDV820 combo?

Hmm then how could you set up a source to use with the headphone? I have only played music stored on my PC. If there is an example of the setup it'd be great.

What is more "musical" than HD800S + HDV820 combo?

I have the HD800S + HDV820 combo, and I certainly love the clarity and sound stage of this combo. However, it appears to me that I actually enjoy music less than before. HD800S + HDV820 feels a bit too analytical for me. I use them with all original stuffs except the USB cable to connect HDV820...

    TOTL disappointments

From my experience with the HD800S + HDV820 combo, it is more than likely that the source is the problem rather than headphones. HD800S just makes a lot of my music sounds very poor, however, switching to lossless stuffs changes the whole game (I should note that even the quality of the lossless...

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

No I don't intend to buy Chord HMS to use solely with HDV820, but since I have H800S+HDV820 combo, buying HMS is a path way to the HMS+DAVE combo, which I will use with other headphones or speakers. I'm just debating whether to get HMS first to use with the current HDV820 or wait and go straight...

Mid-fi soundstage headphone if Sennheiser HD800/HD800s is out of budget?

I found the AD900X mid lacks the punch and sound a bit soft to me, however for a used AD900X I would have no complain about the price/performance. Soundstage is also pretty good, too.

Hugo M Scaler by Chord Electronics - The Official Thread

The HDV 820 has both analog and digital inputs. This is from the official manual: • Outstanding ESS SABRE32 DAC (digital-analog converter) with a resolution of 32 bits and a sampling rate of up to 384 kHz • Automatic adjustment of the sampling rate (44.1 kHz to 384 kHz) • USB Audio (up to 32...

Maybe a silly question but anyone has connected this Chord Hugo M-Scaler to the HDV 820 and if so, what is the result that you get?

Mid-fi soundstage headphone if Sennheiser HD800/HD800s is out of budget?

You have to factor in a really good amp for HD800 and HD800S to shine, so the price will jack up quite a bit. HD 700 has quite a large soundstage, however it doesn't have any hope to compete with HD800S, as soundstage is only one of many traits that HD800S excels over HD700. It is similar with...

Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread

IMO 99C is basically good enough at all fronts, and does not have the refinement of HD 600. For a closed back 99C is pretty good as it is and can be used with any kind of music, surely a jack of all trade.
