    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Just an FYI, I have started a thread in the DIY section about building your own active digital crossover, multi-amp speaker system. It will take time and probably several weeks to piece-meal it together, but I hope you all enjoy it! The center piece of my system is of course the Schiit Yggdrasil...

Build a Fully Active Digital Crossover, Multi-amp Speaker System

Hi Everyone, I have been posting my impressions of the Schiit Gungnir multibit and Yggdrasil DACs now for several months. When I started sharing info about my system, many people were asking how I was using several 2-channel DACs in a 2-channel speaker playback system.   At the request of...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I have been working a lot and quite frankly come home, sit on the couch, and would rather listen to music than type on the computer....but all I can say is, I received my Yggy mid-October. It has been running constantly, and it seems to STILL be improving, just like a fine wine or spirits.  ...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Hello,      OK, I have been working a lot lately to pay for my recent Yggy acquisition, and to upgrade my current amps.....I will start this thread later when I get home from work. I've been busy, but I will put together a thread and outline how I setup my system, the tools, and all that good...

    Schiit Gungnir DAC

Hi!       You can take a multimeter with the "continuity" setting and, assuming you are testing single-ended inputs, connect one lead to the ground of the input, outer part of the RCA connector, and the other lead to the center "hot" and see if you have continuity. Check this when you turn the...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

Hi Paul,   Congrats on the Yggy. It truly, TRULY is a special DAC. I have had mine since the 16th of this month and have been running the XLO/Reference Recordings test/Burn-in CD  burn-in track continuously since I powered it up on the 16th, unless I was watching movies or listening to music...

Thanks for the kind words!  With Yggy now, I don't miss the Theta Progeny Rev-A I used to own, and am sure I don't need to look at the Gen V-A, but those are amazing pieces and certainly have collector/vintage value and mystique.    Cheers!

ABSOLUTELY! I agree wholeheartedly that a simple system is WAY more resolving and more engaging, in my opinion according to my experience, than a complicated system.....in terms of gain stages and passive crossover parts and preamps.   Before I got into open-baffle, active-crossover speaker...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

I use Room EQ Wizard, a Dayton Audio measurement microphone, and a laptop along to make measurements of the individual drivers. I make sure any resonances of INDIVIDUAL drivers are accounted for and notched out, then I see the phase and relationship of each driver section and tailor the...

Red Dog, you are SOOOOOO right when you said that listening to Yggy is BLOODY WONDEFUL, or something like thatl!   Compared to Gumby, Yggy is in another league!!!!! Check out my post about my 48 hours in impressions of Yggy vs Gumby over at the Schiit Gungnir DAC thread. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING!!!!!

    Schiit Gungnir DAC

Well, all I can say is, 48 hours later, comparing Gumby to Yggy, the Yggy being only 48 hours old, HOLY SCHIIT!!!  It may only be "an incremental improvement" of 10% people are claiming with Yggy vs Gumby. ALL I KNOW.......is there is an immediacy, intimacy, and greater tangibility and emotional...

    Schiit Yggdrasil Impressions thread

OK, been using Yggy for the tweeters less than 24 hours now. I can definitely tell the Gungnir multibit and Yggy are of the same familial signature.   The Yggy dwarfs the Gungnir multibit in physical dimensions, but it's not even been a day and the Yggy is not knocking my socks off compared to...

    Schiit Gungnir DAC

OK, got Yggy in yesterday and hasn't even been 24 hours since using Yggy. Will keep you posted about Gungnir multibit vs Yggy impressions, in my system, according to my bias, with my ears.   It's been about 22 hrs, and I can tell there's a greater sense of transparency and neutrality vs...

Yes yes yes! Get the WYRD. Those are an amazing value for what they do. PC USB power is very dirty, even if you use high quality power conditioners. The PYST USB cables are also a great value and highly recommended.
