I imagine they sounded pretty good, because the reviewer himself was super amped. I don't actually know what that means (maybe the cap was necessary for the super amping), but it sounds like an audio revolution. The headphones are 101 decibel SPL, which means 101 decibel split. Amazing.

:) Tidal isn't the important bit, it just happens to work with UAPP. Anything that lets you get the files to the dragonfly, without first being up-sampled etc. No :) For those that still have them though, I think the DF does a decent portable job.

But you received your SR009 as a gift :astonished: I think my HD650s sound decent with Tidal, UAPP, and a DFB. Works for when not wanting to take a full amp with you, but sadly I only have a trial of Tidal.

You've missed the bit where you say which headphones you prefer :) Unfortunately the Eikons I tried were powered by a tube amp, which wasn't for me. The Elears were good, and the Utopia's were excellent - not that I'd ever consider paying that much for headphones. I tried the SR-009, but...

What do you mean, they're not familiar? You know what Focals are. Do you just mean you haven't tried them? Yeah I had plenty of time with the Utopias at CanJam, they were very nice. A little pricey though.

What does 'powerful headphone' mean? Surely it can't be balanced with nothing recessed (ie, flat) and also have extra bass or be powerful. Does it have a slightly raised mid bass?

That's a hell of a spend on gaming :) Not much yet, but no doubt more will. It works well with lower end Stax too - at least, that's all I've heard it with.

It is. Well that depends on what you want it for. It's amazing at Dolby Atmos surround sound. Are you wanting it for gaming? Presumably there are better options for music.

Fantastic, thank you, much appreciated. Agreed. Prices are subject to change anyway, so if the numbers separate from price, people can later see what's available and choose. Shame the AKG aren't available with a mic. The Audio-Technica ADG1X is, I wonder how that compares.
