    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

I'd love to see more codec options with way lower latency. I guess they'll probably never license AptX-Low Latency, but maybe Bluetooth LE is getting closer/even better. I'd just love to use these while I play video games. :P

    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

Wow, THANK YOU for this info! I just picked up a Surface Pro 9 and the bluetooth audio sounded -terrible- on the XM4's. Haven't tried the XM5's yet but this made a SUBSTANTIAL difference.

I hadn't thought about that - what company made your skin?

The longer I've had these, the more I do find myself returning to them over other choices. Even though the Shure Aonic 50 sounds overall more pleasing to me, work vastly better with multipoint, and supports Low Latency-AptX when I'm gaming, they're also larger, heavier, a little more...

    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

I finally saw the "silver" XM5 on display at BestBuy. I like the finish way more than the black, which remains a huge fingerprint magnet and I think really ruins the premium effect. The silver - which is really more of a composite, almost "premium cement" textured look - feels different to the...

    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

On a pure listening level, I have to admit I find the Shure Aonic 50 to be more pleasing than the XM4 or XM5. Music just sounds so good - I get a ton of enjoyment from them, no tweaking required. They just sound so well balanced, resolve so well - I feel like I’m always noticing new textures...

I wish I had the silver to compare. The black is really horrible at picking up greasy looking stains just from the natural oils of your fingers. I'm being fairly precious about touching them and they just look kind of awful after a few days of taking them on and off and using the touch gestures...

LDAC sounds quite good to me (although annoyingly you can't even use LDAC with the multipoint connection feature) - but I do really wish they had AptX-Low Latency support. I realize it's because they refuse to use Qualcomm chips or pay AptX license fees but LDAC's latency is real bad. Doesn't...

    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

Agreed re: ANC - it's not even close, the XM4s are vastly superior in that regard to the Aonic 50s (if you can withstand the cabin pressure thing). And I agree: I still think the Aonic 50 are still, overall, the most pleasing to actually listen to. XM5s included. To tell you the truth I just...

    Sony WH-1000XM5 Wireless Noise Cancelling

I think so. I'm admittedly in a little over my head in describing audio accurately, so I'm learning, but - I think that's right. They've felt properly balanced out of the box to me (and remarkably detailed), whereas with the XM5 I'm continually fiddling with the EQ to try and land on a sweet...

Thanks so much! Seems like a great place. I appreciate the tip, I'll try that now.

I'm a little mixed on them. Overall, they're great. Super comfortable, great ANC, good enough sound quality for my fairly untrained ears. I can't quite settle on an EQ though, as opposed to my Aonic 50s which sound great for everything flat. I tried the soundguys' wavelet file, but I dunno. I...
