Thanks for the honest review.  I'm also a Kickstarter Pono backer (Waiting on a black unit).  I too listen to FLAC files on my iPhone 6+ as well as Audiarvana through a DAC off my iMac.  What you've described in the difference between the iPhone 6 and Pono is what I've been most curious about...
