I have a whole beowulf cluster in my closet, but that's beside the point. For the best sound quality I suggest installing either VLC media player, or using Winamp SHOUTCAST! to stream it over the network to your game PC, so you have less signal degredation, as line-in on PC's is ****.

Go for the M-Audio, they make excellent soundcards. They do not have much hardware acceleration, however, so if you game, go for a different card as it will drop your performance by a good 10-15%.

If you're going to get new speakers, go for a new APU as well. Is you want it to be portable, you have 2 options. The first, you could pick up a PCMCIA soundcard, although selection is slim, you will get optical and line out. Or, you could go with a USB sollution. I reccomend a Soundblaster...
