Hi all, Looking to sell my Andros for $600 OBO—price includes paypal fees and shipping (with insurance). These are the third iteration of the original design. They were always kept in their case and babied—although I often didn't put each monitor in its little scratch-proof pouch, so they have...- tisquinn

Luxury & Precision (LP) Portable USB DAC/AMP W1 and W2 (The new W2-131 Version is Available, Related Info on Post #1)
The W2 does not have a line out option; so if you are getting an analogue signal out of the unit, it will always have gone through the amp phase of the circuit. (Put another way, there is no way to bypass the amp and just use it as a dac.) On the W2 there is an option (called "HID Key"—no idea...- tisquinn

this may be a somewhat annoying answer, but fwiw, I would caution you against asking the question in those terms. You should pick the IEMs that make the most sense for your personal taste, the music you listen to, whether they fit your ears (a real consideration with the IER Z1R according to...- tisquinn

Just out of curiosity—why run it on high gain and low volume instead of low gain and higher volume? Does it drive the Z1R better on high gain?- tisquinn

How old are your Nios? Sorry they’ve had issues! Fwiw (not much since I’m not an engineer!) there are a lot of smaller things that could be going wrong besides a driver failure. Hopefully it’s something easy!- tisquinn

Yeah, they were definitely going to make sure it worked out in the end, even if the journey there wasn’t what I hoped! Also their repairs are way way less than the discount in price, so even worse case scenario something happens out of warranty, it’s again inconvenient but still a savings...- tisquinn

OK—final update on my long Nio B-stock journey. Quick recap: I got the B-stocks, they looked (literally) flawless, but it emerged that the right monitor had a bad socket and would occasionally lose about half its volume. (I wouldn't be surprised if this socket problem is common given the way the...- tisquinn

Has L&P told us what the different EQ settings are? Is there handy set of graphs? Sorry if this has already been asked a bazillion times. I tend to be skeptical of genre-specific EQs. I'm hoping one of the EQ settings might have a very mild bass shelf, but hopes are not high.- tisquinn

I think probably best for me to just give it up, lol. The hypothetical was not supposed to be the question; it was just my (clearly not great) way of trying to get at the real question: does a balanced cable help only inasmuch as it allows the transducers to plug in to what in some amps is a...- tisquinn

Right—of course you'd hear them through the IEM. But (and maybe I'm just not getting it) I still think the thrust of my question is being missed. It still sounds like what you are talking about is that a balanced cable can help an IEM get sound out of the output that, on a given amp or DAP, is...- tisquinn
