    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

Was from a local guy, untested, but pulled out of old testing equipment that was barely used. All sound fine and no issues so far! I have found the TF 12AU7 to be the most detailed and punchy 12AU7 by far. Pairing with a warm power tube (Mullard 6080, RCA 6AS7) actually cancels outits...

    The 6SN7 Identification Guide

Just received 4 of these General Electric Canada 6SN7GT, any insight onto their history, what the gray collar may be for and date? Has date code H3 as far as I can see.

So I just picked these up locally for the astonishing price of $9 AUD per tube. Very detailed but still smooth presentation, and one of the most unique midrange presentations I've heard. Treble is strong, pairs great with HD800 on classical music(incredible soundstage), though some hi-hats did...

For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

Is anyone with both the cetron 7236 and the tung sol 7236 metal bases able to hear a difference between them? My cetron 7236s have to be the least 'tubey' sounding tubes in the whole 6as7 family. If anyone is out looking for bendix graphite plates, look out for raytheon 6080WC or tung sol...

    Crack;Bottlehead OTL

New crack owner who just installed the speedball tonight! Still trawling through the 686 pages on this thread but wanted to drop my first impressions on the stock circuit and speedball. I'm sure many more detailed and better descriptions are scattered through the thread but since it's so long I...

    La Figaro 339

Haven't rolled the 5998 and 7236 in a long time as I've spent the majority of time with TS 6080, which I think is on par with the GEC 6AS7G for top 3 tubes in the family. Give me a couple of days to familiarise myself again and I will get back to you :) From memory however, 5998 is likely to...

that is the same seller i bought from. hope burning in is helping, mine definitely did sputter quite a lot (and at random) in the first few hours of use

For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

I'd describe it as just a more distant, quieter sound, did not actually get any scratch. They did take a few hours of use to settle in (occassionally would sputter a bit at the start) so might be that. Otherwise I think you might have a bad tube :/ if you're on the lf339 try checking with one...

    Popular Classical Music

I've been a big fan of classical music my whole life. I've really enjoyed the eye opening experience of hifi on large scale orchestral works specifically. I run HD800 and STAX l300 LTD for the detailed imaging, clarity and soundstage. Here's 3 of my favourite symphonic recordings; Mravinsky...

For 6AS7G tube rollers here .....

Thanks for the heads up, it took a considerable amount of force but I managed to get the tubes to sit flush with the connectors and it made a huge difference to the sound. I will amend my previous impressions; these are now slightly more musical and less analytical than the 6AS7G, with...

    La Figaro 339

As has been mentioned on the 6as7 tube rolling thread, 2x CV4079/A2293 can be rolled into the power tube slot with adapters (available on ebay). I had some initial connection issues since i couldn't get the tubes to sit properly/deep enough but with some considerable force they are now in nice...
